                You show a lot of different orchids @strongylodon ! Are you a member of the Hardy Orchid Society? I am, but I'm afraid many of the sites they recommend for visits are too far from me.

                @CarolineL no I am not, I had thought about it but like you, I find most of their field trips are a long way from where I live.

                For me it's worth it as a source of orchid seed and growing medium. And I've given up AGS membership so that saves a lot.

                    We have bee and pyramidal orchids in our garden. The bee orchids have been here for many years and I'm as careful as possible not to mow where they appear. I can now recognise the leaves as they are emerging in the lawns and mow round them - and mark the place with a stick.

                    Would they still be considered wild orchids if they have been nurtured - and spoken to regularly? :scratch:

                      Dactylorhiza in the woods where I volunteer. They were underwater for months over winter so I'm amazed they've flowered.
