Just started on windows 10 this morning. Definitely smoother. My husband put it on last night, at which point I asked if all my files would run on it ok... He didn't know...

      But they're all fine!

It is a considerable improvement on Windows 8.1, but in fairness that wouldn't be difficult

I am quite happy with it though, and as long as you are sensible what you agree to, I don't think it is all that bad.

Dave W - many thanks for a very useful and informative link.

I still find W10 irritating. I cannot find any button on my machine which says settings. When I type settings into the search box, I get a list of items, all of which are of no help. Typing privacy in the box is better. But why can't we have a menus structure? You can look through a menu structure and see what options are available. Currently they are all hidden, and without Dave's link I would have been totally unaware - perhaps that's the idea.

Whilst I have got my new machine mostly set up now, I still find it very user unfriendly, unless you are just running routine programs from icons on the desktop.

I finally found the Privacy settings and had no idea what liberties were being taken. I have switched nearly everything off. Apparently, even though I had removed or disabled many app to do with news, weather, food, music, they were still tracking me and slowing the machine down, but you can switch that off.

Hey guys, anyone know where I can buy a digital version of Windows 10? I've look around Microsoft's website, but found nothing. ;/

You also can't upgrade if it's a multi-licence (a licence for the software to be installed on many computers) unless in certain circumstances.

I can't see how your spam emails can increase because of W10 . Surely they would have to come through to you from your mail provider and not have anything to do with your operating system!
