While I'm about it there's a fair bit to see in my gardens still!

Here's some winter colouration coming up on a fescue/conifer bed:

Here are some Gaultheria procumbens that I am trying to get to form a carpet in an acid border. They are very slow but have a real charm in my eyes:

And here is Cotinus coggyria 'Royal Purple' colouring up against a Prunus laurocerasus cultivar:

Guess who's got his Photobucket thing working again :D [IMG]

I think it was my problem, the modem seems to have shut down. Tried reconnecting, no luck. I eventually took the USB cable out and put it in again and it worked.

A typical December day on the west coast of Scotland - if they can grow here they can grow anywhere! :D

Great photos, Barney and very interesting indeed. You do have the Gulf Stream though. What sort of frosts do you get?

Thanks Hornbeam. We do get frosts, it's not that uncommon to have to s****e thick ice off the windscreen in the morning in winter, not sure about the lowest temperature, maybe -5 to -10 occasionally?

Er, not sure why the asterisks are there, what I was saying is that it's not unusual to have to use the s****er on the windscreen [IMG]

Gordon Bennett! Barny it looks rather breezy in your manor, gorgeous views to lift the heart though.

I like that Gaultheria, Stingo. I can buy it down the market (not very cheap), pop it into winter pots with heathers and stuff and it looks terrific right through till the spring bulbs are hard at work, then hoik it out and use it as a ground cover. For some reason the birds don't like to eat the berries so they remain all through the winter, and the leaves take on lovely rose and purple tones in the cold weather. [IMG]
