By special request of Gay Gardner...

This project came about when I wanted a Garden Table to fit specific requirements. It had to fit in a certain space, seat as many as possible, and, as pine is the only easily available wood here, be built in such a way that if any part needed changing for some reason, it could be.

The first thing was to build a "base" module. Basically, this was a cross with four legs...

Here, its held together with cramps. Later, I would use Coach Screws that were galvanised for outdoor use. Next up was to build four identical seat modules, each with two legs. Being self critical, if I ever build another, I will change the leg design slightly. Here it is as these seats were being made...

The seat modules would eventually be attached using stainless wood screws. The final part of the construction was the table. This was a frame, the legs of which fitted into the "cross."

..and here is the finished piece, ready to be coated with preservative....

As I mentioned, the whole thing is screwed and jointed together so that it can either be dismantled or have parts replaced.
