Never seen the lesser woody, they are less common and not as widespread and I don't know of anyone who has.

We have occasionally seen the Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers,more by luck than anything.They are only about the size of a sparrow,so it is only the flight that gives them away
For those of you down south, there are green woodpeckers around at the Gardens of the Rose, in Chiswell Green. We frequently saw them flying in and out of the big lime trees there. Their flight is so distinctive...... No chance of a photo though, unfortunately :(
