Wow lovely Woo , my Dad was a pilot in the RAF and later worked in aircraft manufacturing, he absolutely adores the Spitfire and has many models scattered around his home.

A few years ago for his 90th birthday we held a surprise party for him after closing time in Southampton Hall of Aviation Museum...invited all the family and tables and chairs and a buffet were set out amongst the aircraft.....I will never forget the surprise and happiness on his face as he walked through the doors to everyone cheering!! Magical moment!!

        Hi,

Reminds me Woo of a time when we were in Hayes Garden Centre in Ambleside on a beautiful summers day; I was standing at the kiosk in the grounds ordering tea when there was a tremendous bang just above my head and an RAF fighter jet disappeared as quickly as it arrived; it almost took my cap off whilst low flying over Windermere.

My late father used to work on Lancaster bomber final assembly Upsy; my late mother worked in munitions. What a lovely story about your dad. :cat-kittyandsmiley:

We can thank our parents and grandparents for our envious lifestyle we now all enjoy.

        Kind regards, Colin.
