Woo, I put a pump in the little bath pond I made last year. The water level dropped a bit, and overnight the pump practically emptied the rest of the water out :noidea:- the surrounding plants were having a party! This year, when it warms up a bit I thought I`d try to think up a way of making a cheapie waterfall instead. Wish me luck, I shall need it ....I`m no plumber.

The most efficient way of having a water fall is to try to make the "head" of the water above the pump as short as possible. It doesn't matter how deep the pump is situated, the "head," (the amount of water it has to lift) is measured from the surface of the water. Try to get as few bends in the supply pipe as possible, if you have to have a bend, make it a "sweep" bend, not a right-angled one, sweep bends offer less resistance.
