@wiseowl Get standard goldfish. Lighter fish are better because you can see them, even deep down. Darker fish are protected against herons and cats etc. I'll let you decide Fancy goldfish (that's their actual name) have too much finnage or bulging eyes. They get medical problems. Stick to standard goldfish. They are common for a reason! Koi carp will need more room so avoid them.

An alternative for bigger ponds is to get Sturgeons (The smallest type os sturgeon is the Sterlet and this grows to *cough* only 1 meter long over 10 years).

Bonus story!
When I was young, we were all outside having a BBQ and we saw a cat trying to catch the shiny goldfish. It clearly didn't see the 4ft sturgeon nearby which popped up and grabbed its foot. It must have thought the cat's foot was a dragonfly or something on the water surface. Anyway, it the cat got pulled into the pond, made a quick yelp (I would too if I fell in that cold water), then swam/ran away. The cat used to sit next to the water and then back away slowly when it saw a strugeon fin pop up.

 

I like the Japanese Anemone's Woo, they are such an easy going plant. I haven't got any in this present garden sadly and I don't know if they'd like the sandy soil.

You're lucky to have both, the pink ones aren't so easy to get hold of now. Do they come true from seed?

 

I had them in a garden before I moved to the island @wiseowl but didn't have much of a problem controlling them. They do put on a good display.
