Good afternoon everyone,as part of my project I have to get rid of this now unused Telegraph Pole as it is unsafe and unsightly ,I have contacted the local council and other sources but they say that it my responsibility ,its over 35 years old and was once used for a relay service by Radio Rentals,I wonder if a tree surgeon would remove it for me?:)

Can't you get your friends the woodpeckers to give you a hand? :D

I'm sure that a tree surgeon would be happy to remove it but he'll want to know that you have permission to do so. You'll need it in writing from these other sources so you could show it to him - and to protect yourself if someone complains.

The cable is obviously connect to something for it to be horizontal. That would need to be cut off at the top of the pole before cutting the pole. Where does the cable go and where will it fall when it is cut at your end?

A local handyman may be cheaper than a tree surgeon as it's not a specialised job. Would you want them to take it away as it will be much more wood than it appears when it's standing? The pole will be impreganated with a bitumen or creosote type chemical will burn well but will need to be burnt in a ventilated area.

Good morning Shiney and thank you,the wire has no power going through it as I cut the wire which ran from the pole to a bracket on the side of the house and then disposed of it,I have emailed my local council and I am awaiting a reply,I would do it myself but cannot take off due to the weight of the chainsaw :loll:
Ps.The Woodpeckers have gone away for a few months:heehee:

        Thanks, woo

The wire that goes away from the pole in the other direction will need to be cut at the pole and, presumably, the next pole along otherwise the will be a long dangling bit of wire :heehee:
