Well, at least it won't curl up and die in this "inclement" weather Woo. In fact, whilst we are being spared the cold, frosty nights in this little SE corner, it will have time to get settled in before real Winter arrives,

Goodness me Woo, I've only just now looked at your thread and I'm staggered at the changes you've made. Last time I looked at photos of your garden was a couple of years ago and it's now changed completely. What a change you've made! It's amazing and you must be very well pleased with results so far.
What will you do with that what looks like a drain cover you've unearthed?

BTW - I've found that when digging in claggy soil, rubbing the (clean) spade with a wax candle helps keeps the soil from sticking.

Good morning Dave thank you for that tip I have plenty of candles and will use some to day my friend,as I see it the only option open to me is to box it in and stain the wood and then lay the turf as close to it as I can leaving just the metal cover showing which I shall paint black:)

Stage 3 of my project extending the lawn, I have discovered an old pond under the patio slabs, which is just been filled in with rubble,I am decided that my best option is to remove the slabs and rubble one row at a time as I have no idea how deep it goes:)
