Marginally, but only slightly more bearable, than the American version - "AWESOME!!!"

Dave Gorman did pretty much a whole show on these. One of the best was "A bowl in a china shop" instead of a bull. I mean, you would expect a bowl in a china shop ...

I've noticed a lot of Americans keep repeating the phrase "Go ahead and ...". I was watching someone cooking something once, and it was "I'm going to go ahead and put the oven on.. I'm going to go ahead and chop the onions... I'm going to go ahead and ...

That was an excellent programme (not program, which is the American spelling).

I thought it was "a fine-toothed comb", a comb with fine teeth (as you would use to comb out nits - a wide-toothed one would miss some).

My latest annoyance is a radio advertisement for some savings account, offering a higher interest rate if you make "less withdrawals". FEWER!! It's FEWER withdrawals. You can count them.

@JennyJB I do a lot of muttering at the telly about "fewer" and also "is", as in the goverment/council/police is, not "are". Too many TV presenters and news readers don't know that collective nouns are singular.

                          Unexpected item in bagging area
Why is a bag unexpected in a bagging area?

Because it weighs more than "they" (whoever programmed/set up the till) thinks it should :noidea:. In my experience they only allow for very lightweight bags with nothing in them already. No chance if you want to add your shopping to a bag that's got stuff from another shop already in there, or a couple of library books. Been there, done that !

Have you brought your own bag, "yes".

Then at the end it asks how many bags you had, :dunno:

Are they trying to catch us out.

I usually have at least one item that needs to be approved, last time it was cough medicine, that is just freely available on the shelf.:nonofinger:

"Introducing Lidl PLUS!!" yelled in your ear every 30 seconds as you walk around the store. Lately they've taken to playing the ad twice in a row. I wear earplugs in Lidl but it still gets through. I'd like to find the head honcho of Lidl and stand in his office shouting "Introducing Lidl PLUS" at him whilst he's trying to work.
