        You could manage it with a partially defrosted stew or one where the bag got mangled when you were freezing it

            It is not the only word where people insert a random letter for no apparent reason. Other examples are Longditude and Mischievious.

              I still don't get it. Where is the extra sound in student? I realise you can emphasise the first syllable or the last or neither. Is that the issue?

                Sometimes it's the opposite, people remove letters that really ought to be left alone.
                F'tb'llers, for instance. Or even 'F'b'llers' if they're being really stingy.
