Wouldn't argue with this one PG. But the "fine details" are really important on this one. We're talking about kids, the next generation. They're going to be running the world when your'e an old man and can't just belt someone when they you off.
The world is changing, already you're out of touch with the future:)

I have friends and family who work hard and collect family tax credit, There no better off as they have to pay Dinner money(£1.80 per day per child) as well as full rent and council tax, 16 hours is minimum but are advised to work 30 hours plus to feel the benefit, they are lucky because they have family to watch there children in the holidays, Not all parents have that sort of backup, and childcare is expensive...The goverment have you always, so if your worse off going to work, I can sort of see there point, im not stickng up for the lazy ones who dont even try to help themselve's, but life isn't just black or white....

I reckon this is a more honest discussion than all the thieving, lying swine that call themselves politicians are having about it.

But there is no way of guaranteeing an income for your old age which won`t involve working for it at the time. It happened to my Dad, paid into a pension all his life, even had savings and bonds, he used to boast about how he had set himself up, but times change they don`t cover everything. He still has to work

And you`re only young yet PG, I don`t know what life has to throw at me either, but I can only do my best with what I have responsibilty for today and just try to keep an eye open for the future.

And I agree with you about the ones that do just sit on their backsides doing nothing and expect a handout. The real danger is when the rules that are put in pace to deal with these layabouts damage those that deserve help, and need help.

The curerent situation is unsustainable at present though. With increasing life expectancy and as mentioned the pension problems the country simply cant aford to pay out benefits to the able bodied.
