[IMG] Don't know much about stone Pal, is it Cotswold or Bath stone.. I am sure you will enjoy doing it whatever.. I hope the weather is a liitle kinder next week then....!! [IMG] [IMG] Otherwise it won't be so enjoyable.... ! [IMG] I think the gates would look a whole lot nicer painted black or at least a dark colour too...!!! :D But then they are not mine...! :D

Marley it's Cotswold stone, quarried from only a short distance away.
The gates are Victorian and they were originally painted black, and as you say,so much nicer.

[IMG] Oh, very nice then Pal.. As it should be for the area then... There are a couple of old small quarries just up the hill near us, where they have removed pretty much all the cotswold stone from now... This is more a Limestone area here... Several very large Limestone quarries around here as well...
I always think of Bath stone first, when you see it dressed like that.. I suppose though that Cotswold has a more golden tone to it than the Bath... Will you have to dress the stone peices you are replacing or is it a matter of just "making the old peices fit" again..? Well I hope the weather is with you for it Pal.. Look forward to seeing your finished handy work too....!!!! ;) :D

Just you make sure you don't work too hard then.. ;) ;) :D I am sure it will still be enjoyable.. But I really do think they should paint those gates black at the same time..!!! :D

This is the very first property I ever fitted windows in 1988 [IMG] The timber frames are a bit rotten now but the quality of the installation is still evident :D
The Farm has just been bought by my boss and owing to the amount of out buildings looks like being our Office and storage yard soon.

And in the front garden/field is a spoil heap. Have a guess, the spoil from what?

What a wonderful place, Pal, and if that is going to be your new workplace, I'm jealous ... no, I don't work anymore! [IMG]

I could easily live in such a place ... no, I don't want steps anymore!

The windows still look ace .. clever clogs, you!

I'm not even going to guess what the spoil heap was because I'd probably dread to think!
