:D:DWe had a Memo at work telling us to do an inventory of the tools in our vans.
I've just found these on my camera, taken by some wag on the site who got into my van knowing I have a camera.:rolleyes:What's the problem?

Bob it's birds! I used to be called back to reputty panes time again. I now use a mix  which hardens within days, plus a dusting of 'something' to deter birds, allowing an undercoat of paint. Once painted the birds tend to keep away however ,there is a family of Sparrows in the garden where I refurbished that greenhouse that hack away at painted putty on one window in particular:scratch:

:scratch:Bob I never use Linseed putty with DG units. it somehow affects the make up of them and causes them to fail. I bed them in the rebates on low modulus silicone and cap them too with a paintable mastic. In metal or timber frames the same method is used.
BTW,DG units no longer have to be a minium of 24mm thick:) with the improved treatment to glass coatings the units can once again be made at only 12mm!!

Bob, As pal says dg units definately shouldnt be beded on putty only on butyl compound, or silicone.

    Pal whats your mix?

The trick i use with fresh putty is to paint it with knotting (shelac) then it can take primer the next day.

Now come on, Pal, it's getting pretty boring looking at your workplaces on a regular basis .... but you do have taste in choosing your luncheon partners. :thumb:

I actually edited out the rest of my sentence which originally said ... "but you do have taste in choosing your luncheon partners .... from the neck down....!" but I thought that was probably rude ..... :D:D:D

With that whitty bit of repartie, I'm off outside into the fresh air for a wee while ...
