I heard a pundit say that Saudi Arabia were the worst team in the competition. I guess that's been turned on its head.

Interesting set of results. Both Spain and Portugal drawing again eh. That group is looking a bit like England's group in Italia 90. All the group 1st and 2nd games were 1-1 draws. If the third games weren't conclusive, lots would have been drawn. England won their last game 1-0 and topped the group.

Spain was lucky to get the draw, and Ronaldo should have been sent off imho.

We love sport in our house and a hobby of mine is satellite tv looking for live transmissions, most of what i find is sport,

Each tv does have a duel display so i could get four different channels at the same time, i also have a PC satellite card i can get 15/20 channels at the same time on that, as mentioned it my hobby

 

I've just watched the highlights of the Uruguay - Russia game. The Urugauay forward pushed 2 Russian defenders out of the way to leave a gap for Saurez to score the free kick. How is this allowed to happen. I can't believe that wasn't picked up on VAR.

V A R or as I've called it Various Applications of the Rules," is a bit of a joke.

I believe there's a hierarchy mind-set in that "the referee is always right." Few will admit having made a mistake
Same situation with the assistant referee they have behind the goal in European games. For what influence they have on some decisions, they might as well not be there.
Why we weren't awarded two penalties in the first game when a defender had his arms around Kane, remains a mystery. But then we've referees from many countries and they all have different interpretations of the same rules it's all a bit of nonsense.

 

Its amazing how many goals are scored after 90+ minutes.

My wife loves sport more than me Gary, most of the time while i am doing my hobby i am trying to find some sport the wife wants to watch while shes all ready watching cricket/whatever, its not everyone's cup of tea but it suites us specially for sport you don't have to listen to the commentary to know whats going on, having said that what i do find 99% of the time its not in English.

 

It's amazing how many early FA cup ties last for 96 minutes. Nooooooo. 90 mins is enough. In other sports they have a countdown. When play stops the clock stops. At the end the buzzer goes off on Its own. There is no discretion involved.

Well, in American Football there are four quarters of fifteen minutes. When the play stops, for much of the time, the clock stops. That's why the games can last three hours.

At least the referee in soccer has some discretion. But the winning team can delay the game.
In gridiron, "delay of game," is a penalised offence.

and you get none of this crowding around the officials trying to get them to change their decision.
