Would you buy this plant?

    Aside from what everyone has said, I just want to add that any large plant that size will always be a risk, especially if you are considering planting into the ground. Personally I would not buy such a large plant. It's always generally safer and cheaper to go for smaller size shrubs apart from being cheaper, most likely easier to adapt than a large potted plant.

    Even the most experienced can see these plants just struggle, and that doesn't mean instant death, but years of leaf fall or inability to put on growth.

    Star Jasmines are quite temperamental, and can be easily affected by cold winds to winter wet. Red leaves are normal for colder and windier areas, but like all evergreens, they will shed at some point to make way for new growth, so leaf fall is expected and part of the plant's life cycle.
