GOTO: & GOSUB: are commands that were used in the BASIC (Beginners All purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) computer language. The language was developed in the mid 1960s as a simpler introduction to programming than the then main languages. It was fell out of general use years ago, though there is still a language called Visual Basic in use, it bears no resemblance at all to the original BASIC.

In essence GOTO & GOSUB are not things to bother about.

Well! I've made the BIG change, ditched XP and gone over to GNU/Linux, Ubuntu flavour. It's nice to be able to scroll down a list of software pick what you want and download it for free. There's a lot to learn though. One benefit is that the printer driver for my Epson Stylus C680 gives much higher definition than the Epson driver under Windoze.

Just to let you know, there is a reason why we have updates......If you decide not to update your computer, then im afraid that you are going to have a majour problem with issues on your computer. Not updating to explorer 7 is not going to do you any favours. The reason why there is updates is to make sure that your computer is not only up to date, but safe and secure.

Avoiding updates will only screw your computer up in the long run.

My advice update......if you are having probles with updating or there are issues, then your computer is already affected...Not Infected.

I constanly have to tell customers to stay on top of Windows Updates........there are many issues out the where hackers find loop holes through software, ie Internet explorer and other issues.

Please.....to save your self a huge headache....Update Regulary.

I have just had a computer man round to sort out my pc as since I have been on Broadband it just keeps cutting off every few minutes.

His remedy was to re-install Windows6 as he said TalkTalk and Windows7 were not always compatible.
He also exchanged the TalkTalk SmartAX modem which cost £29.99 for a very simple one that cost £10! (a Speedtouch modem)
I have been on computer for over two hours now and it has not cut off once!!!
I am keeping my fingers crossed but am now concerned - having read your previous posting on this thread - about not having the updated version of Windows because of the safety issues. Seems I can't win... or should it be ok now?

Sorry to hear the problem you have had...but to be honest the technician you had in was wrong........i have been constantly out this 2 weeks sorting out customers adsl problems.....the problem is due to BT updating there exchanges around the country.

the old adsl bt voyager modems have had driver issues since.....customers cannot get on the internet to update, as there is new drivers out for voyager 100/105 and bt voyager usb modem also known as bt voyager 50.

the reason he did a full install was to make money, sorry jjorde but thats the only reason....a driver issue can be resolved with updated drivers or a change of modem.
