Morning Woo, 02, Rosa, Kandy and all.

Yes Woo sad for September 2 fly pass so very fast but I'm really looking forward to the end of October when it's Halloween!

Thanks Shiney :luv:. I wondered where you were honey:wink:....sounds like your trip went down well & I sure will look forward to seeing your wonderful snaps as I'm sure you didn't go to Paris without your camera!

Strawman I just love reading and to be honest I will real almost anything. I have to get my daily fix a few times a day thats if I can sit still for long enough! Just finished 4 of the 'Forgotten Voices' books and just about done on another Stephen King.

Sorry about the allotment Rosa but I will always have plenty of flower seeds for you honey when you get lucky with another plot.:thmb:

Yes Kandy sitting in a car (or anywhere else) is terrible I have to say I hate those speed bumps with a passion even the slowest speeds makes you yelp out in pain.....so as you can guess I haven't been out much.

Managed to go other to the plots yesterday (just to collect some seeds) for an hour although I had to sit down on the job but at least i was doing something which made me feel oh so good!

Getting really excited for Halloween our front garden is going to be bigger & better than last year. I just need to go on Ebay and get some decent Glow sticks.

Well I'll pop about for a few more minutes then it's off for another cuppa me thinks. Have anice day guys.Hel.xxx

    Good morning everyone,

Penny, as rosa says, the Eurostar is a train. It is a high speed link between England and the continent (France and Belgium at the moment) and can travel at speeds up to 186 mph. The train is 1/4 mile long. So getting from the centre of London to the centre of Paris takes just over two hours. :thumb:

Strawman, I have had to stop buying books because we don't have room for them :(. We have bookcases in the lounge, hall, dining room, two other rooms and loads of books in the loft. We have been giving books away for some time now but they don't seem to leave any empty spaces  :).

O2, I'm working on ordering up a good autumn and winter :hehe: with lovely colours and bright days. I think my rose tinted glasses help a lot :D

woo, I hope your latest project goes well :thumb:

rosa, it seems as though every week is Christmas shopping week for you :hehe:

Kandy, there are some really interesting place names up there. They have some books that give the history of place names but I don't know anyone who has one. Jopplety How is not too difficult to get to the top of and has lovely views of borrowdale. I don't know Hog's Earth but seem to remember that it is a woodland. Of course, I can never forget places like Great Cockup and Little Cockup, just north of Skiddaw. :D

We had another tree taken down yesterday and have had loads of our laurel cut back as it is getting too difficult for me to keep it under control. Both of them have been encroaching on our driveway and making it difficult for people to get in. The laurel will probably look rough for a couple of years but should regenerate OK.

    Have a great day :D

Hi Helen, I didn't bother to take my camera but Mrs shiney took hers. I used it a few times when I went out on my early morning walks.

These are a couple of photos of the Eiffel Tower at sunrise. It seems to have been at the scaffolding stage for yonks :hehe: :rotfl:

Beautiful picture of it in the sunrise Shiney. I've never been over to Paris - OH hated it when he was there thought it was filthy, so if I do go it'll have to be with the girls! Re the books - I have five boys who all love reading - they will not get rid of ANY of their books - particularly the older two, as they will reread them. My 17 yr olds bedroom is more books than everything else combined, and books was the major component of the eldest boys contents when he went to University.

Hel.....do you really decorate your place up for Halloween? We did it our first year here, but felt really out of place as nobody else did, and not many trick or treaters either. We did it all up with fake styrofoam gravestones, had a grave by the front door........with one of the boys laying under a bed of straw.......as someone knocked he 'rose from the dead' with his creepy mask on.....luckily it was a teenager who wasn't traumatised too much by it :)

Noticed it was quite a bit duller this morning taking the little ones to school, the air is cool and light light drizzle in the air - almost a fine mist. Has summer been and gone? I must've blinked.....

    Have a great day everybody!

    Good afternoon everyone,

Shiney love your Paris photos. The one with the people in front of it on the square almost look like they could be Lowery{spelling} matchstick figures:D I think Blackpool Tower has the same problem as Paris has with still having the scaffolding up:hehe:

Peri, good use of the B&W facility and love the way there are some colours added to the photos for effect:gnthb:

I don't know whether the Roman type building is Admirality Arch http://www.britainexpress.com/London/Admiralty_Arch.htm but I remember the horses going through there from time to time.It looks like some memorial to Edward 1st and Queen Victoria but not being a Londoner or not having been there for years can't really say, although the Latin words look like the ones you see on coins.:p

Your third photo down would look especially good without the keep left signs, the no entry sign, and the vehicles plus the yellow lines but just keep the bike propped up against the sign and then you would have a piece of our modern day against what could be looked as an old Roman building, but then that is the way I see things:D

Hope you are having a good day in sunny Bedford and glad to hear you had a nice time up in the city:luv:

Good heavenin', Jazmine, Kathy, Penny, Shiney, Kandy and everyone else who maybe reading this thread... I love your images, Kathy. From what I recall, that second shot is indeed Admiralty Arch. Black and White images are surprisingly good for atmospheric scenes, mainly because a lot of buildings look better this way and it brings out the finest detail in the stonework.:thmb: The Eurostar trains are long, but I think that this is why it's such a comfortable ride. Being up here in the north, so to speak, it makes getting to these trains a whole lot easier than when you had to cross London on the underground toting all your baggage too, horrible!!:dh:

The only thing going through my mind today, was the orbweb spider in the tall grasses in my garden, so I took its photo. It's posted on the things buzzing or flying thread.:hehe:

Hi Penny, I do hope that you can let us see how your Halloween decorations will be when the day comes around. Unfortunately, if I did something like that where I live, I'm sure that the town's yobs would trash it. It can be part of the sad face of Britain today. Thankfully though, these things are still in the minority.

Sorry Shiney, but I must have missed your French images somehow. I'm going to hunt for them. In the meantime, enjoy your evening everyone.:yho:

Morning Woo, Kathy, Rosa, Kandy and all!

Lol Rosa that little image looks like my Mum-in-law well nearly I always think of her as a little pixie she's just so very cute!

Shiney really nice snaps so well done to Mrs.Shiney for remembering her camera, strange to see so few traffic around too......was it cold? because the pictures seem a little chilly looking.

Kathy I agree with Strawman I like your black & white snaps they make everything look so very clean so well done to hubby for messing around with the camera!:hehe:

I'm an awful look better now Kathy thanx for asking I just can't go at 'Hel's Speed' quite yet but I will get there!:thumb:

Natalie yes we do go mad at Halloween it's my birthday the day before (nearly born a ghoul not a girl lol) so I get to celebrate dressing up & getting into whatever character I'm going to be each year.

When we first moved here in 2006 we were the only ones that 'did' something on our estate now a few others are getting into the swing of things! Because we get an awful lot of little'uns calling we try to keep it funny not 2 scary but that's getting harder each year because of the new stuff I buy in the sales!

Bob flatly refuses to dress up so he always plays 'Groundsman Bob' each year & encourages the children along with their parents up our garden path the parents love it too as if they dress up they get a gift as well!:gnthb:

Rosa I have my pumpkins already drying (so to speak) and I will look forward in seeing Halloween pictures of your home as I remember you do decorate your flat quite lovely for Halloween.

I'm sure you too are going to have some fun eh Kandy? I know the children love coming to call on you when it's Halloween too.:)

Got to do a little ironing then maybe some steady housework.

Have a nice day guys & take care.Hel.xxx.
