    Good morning everyone,

Running a bit late this morning had a c r a p night due to my neck and shoulder aching.:(Me and Mr Kandy have been sharing my heat pad and although he had a good nights sleep,I couldn't because I lie on my side to sleep so ended up tossing and turning all night long:ywn:He has gone back to work this morning so I am left with having to put up with all the noise from next doors:(Apart from that I am fine:p

Woo,sorry I missed your sunrise yesterday morning as it didn't show up on my computer so have only just yesterday's and today's:oops::oI haven't felt like standing out in the cold this year taking my usual sunrise and sunset piccky's as I seem to be feeling the cold a bit more this year:p

Shiney, your apple crumble sounds quiet yummy.Glad you didn't put up any photos of it though:DI was naughty these last two nights as I have eaten a finger of a Twirl bar out of the easter eggs we had bought us for easter. That is the first milk chocolate i have eaten since January so have been doing well, just hope it doesn't affect my sugar levels too much though.:(

I have booked my blood test for next Monday so hoping that things have started to come down but will just have to keep everything crossed or else i shall end up very sad:p

Anyway,I have sat here for too long so had better go and get something done:)

    Morning Woo and everyone,

Looks like they are all still in bed Woo,not like us early birds:hehe::flag:
We had sunshine all day yesterday {thanks shiney:)}but had very strong winds all day as well so I had to have plenty of layers on when I was outside working in the garden:pGot plenty done though and everything watered:)

Mr Kandy said his back was tweaking all day at work yesterday but he soldiered on so that was ok:D

Shiney, hope you get the plant labels sorted in the end.Are they for your border plants or the ones in the pots?

    Have a good day everyone:)

Good morning woo, Kandy and everyone,

Kandy, I'm pleased you got the sunshine and very pleased that your wind problem didn't get down this far :hehe:

Woo, I see that you were up just as I was going to bed. I spread our sunshine as far as possible so am pleased it reached you as well :thmb:. H sends her love :luv: and so does Oscar k-l

The temperature reached a warm 65F yesterday and only dropped to 45F last night so things are looking up. :gnthb:

We got a lot more tidying up done in the garden and greenhouse and Mrs shiney did loads of potting on.

We have a busy day today so don't know how much we will get done outside.

    Have a great day :D

Sorry, Kandy, I forgot to answer your question :dh:. The paddlestones are to make labels for the borders.

    Good morning all!

Glad Mr. Kandy managed alright at work yesterday - just be glad it's not man flu I guess!

Sunshine in Essex? Woo we had some nice sunshine yesterday here - today is a little more overcast though.

Not much on the agenda today - just a laze about kinda day - so have gotten a little weeding along the driveway done, but there's more to do! Going to pot up my dwarf apricot tree into a lovely big green planter that should do it well - that way I can move it in and out of the greenhouse as necessary - hate to lose all the buds to high winds, or leave it out in cold, but a shame to hide it away in the greenhouse all the time as it's a lovely little tree :)

Tadpoles Galore!!!!!!!! Holy cow - if even the usual 5% survive - and they return to the home pond to spawn......I'm going to be overrun next year - Both clumps have survived and one clump is almost all finished up - and as long as the little newt that is camping out under the spawn doesn't go on a feeding frenzy (do they eat tadpoles even?) - we should have a good number of healthy tads :) Going to have to get some frog houses down behind the pond for them to hide away from neighbouring cats.

Hope everybody has a lovely day whatever you are doing :)

    Good morning Woo and everyone,

Looks like it will be a nice day out there today, with hopefully none of that cold windy weather we have been having of late.Never mind,we are going to have a hot summer this year round about July and September so will see what happens.:D

Shiney, sorry my fault I had read you wanted the stones for the border:doh:I assume they are large stones as I am not sure what paddlestones look like, welll apart from looking like paddles:hehe:I have a B&Q catalogue so will have to look in there:)

Mr Kandy said Thanks for all the good wishes sent him regarding his back problems. It still keeps twinging now and again but is a lot better now.He just needs some ear plugs now to shut out the noise from his boss who spends all day talking about oneself so they all find it difficult at his place to get any work done:(

It has also been two years since he packed up smoking so I am so proud of his achievement:gnthb:

Have a good day everyone in all that you do:)

Good morning woo, Kandy and everyone,

After a slight frost last night the sun is shining and it will be warm later :thumb:.

Kandy, paddlestones are usually slate chippings that are larger than the slate you would normally buy to lay on the soil (alpine and other beds) instead of gravel or chippings. The difference, apart from size, is that they are tumbled to take the sharp and rough edges off them. So they are flat, smooth pieces that can be about 3" or 4" long (over half a sack will be less than that) and are good for using as plant labels. You can get waterproof marker pens that will write well on them. They look good but, more importantly, the birds find them very difficult to pull out.

Kandy, thanks very much for the bulbs etc for our charity. Mrs shiney is already working on them :yho:

Today looks as though it will be more pressure washing for me. I must remember to put a time limit on it otherwise my back will suffer for the next week :(. I think I shall post up a few pictures that I took in the garden yesterday on 'What's looking good' and a couple on 'The camera in my pocket'. The amount will depend on how long it takes to upload as I have such a slow broadband.

    Have a great day :D

    Evening friends :)

Been having teeth trouble here so not felt like chatting much. Am off to the dentist again tomorrow for a one hour sitting in the chair for root canal treatment. I cannot wait but if it gets rid of this awful toothache it will be worth it.
It was a beautiful day here today so I got outside and sat and cleaned pots resting a lot between while OH raked the lawn, mowed it and worked up quite a sweat :lollol:

Hope you are all having good weather too.

    Good morning everyone,

I've been out in the garden this morning and it is a bit nippy out there at the moment (39F) - but the sun is shining brightly and it is warming up :thumb:. Yesterday it reached a lovely 71.2F but dropped to 34F in the night. Still too cold to put any of our seedlings outside.

We have now reached the situation of a full greenhouse with lots more to prick out, pot up and plant . so we are looking at what we have in there that could possibly be moved outside somewhere sheltered.

Yesterday some friends turned up with an old, wooden, park bench that they have to get rid of as they are moving. It is very heavy, has been repaired a number of times and was covered in a very thick (quarter of an inch) layer of bright green algae. I have pressure hose (was doing the patio when they turned up :))it and was able to get most of the algae off. Some of it won't come off and looks just like green paint. I shall need to do some repair work to the bench and I am normally useless at DIY. My DIY tools consist of a few screwdrivers, a drill and a hammer :hehe:

Before I carry on pressure hosing today I have a few little jobs to do. Apparently the light inside Mrs shiney's car doesn't work when she opens the door. I hope it is just that the switch has got knocked into the wrong position. The bunches of daffs are now starting to flop over onto the ground and need tying up. This is one of the tough jobs for me because the bending low down is bad for my back and shoulders. I have to sit on an upturned backet to do this type of work. Normally I would leave this for Tracey to do but she isn't due back for another week yet.

Lots of paperwork to do, two more reports to write, shopping to do, mowing, got to find somewhere that has turf in stock (fill in holes where I dug up bee orchids for transplanting), a couple of hundred pots to prepare for bulbs, potting on etc (Mrs shiney does all the planting and I shall just be putting the compost into the pots).

When I get a chance I shall try and make a list of plants for sale so that, in future, we shall know what sells easily and what is slow. For those of you that are coming to the open day I shall put the list on the thread that I put the advert - if I ever get the list done. It may sound simple but I don't know the names so I shall have to try and get Mrs shiney to tell me what's what.

Jazmine, I hope your mouth is feeling better :thmb:.

    Have a great day :D

    Good morning all!

I hope you are pain free after the root canal Jazmine - not nice having it to look forward to - but wonderful once it's over :)

Shiney you are so so so so busy! Looking forward to the open day - do you sell baked goodies at it by any chance? If so, I'm more than able to bring up some banana bread and carrot cake if you like? Make them in muffin cases so no cutting etc required? Let me know :) Otherwise I'll just bring some for us all to snack anyways :)

Another gorgeous looking day out there today - have given the lawn it's first cut of the year yesterday - trimmed a few straggling branches of a tree that was overhanging the pond (no leaves on the tree yet, and no nests in it) Kids are off up the skate park with their dad this morning, so me and the older boys will be out doing more bits and pieces out there. Have planted up a couple of baskets and put them in the greenhouse to mature a litle and popped in some raspberry canes into a nice sunny location. Also planted some more lupins which I love.

Well, back out there at it with a cup of coffee and the older boys for help :)
    Have a great day everybody!
