    Good morning everyone,

Hope you all had a good day despite the weather.I managed to get out into the front garden even though it was snowing and decanted the twenty four bags of grass clippings into some more dustbin bags so I can lift them easily now.I just hope the utility people don't need to come round to read the meter as they are all stacked up along the path leading to the back gate:hehe:

Had to get up in the night due to feeling quiet poorly and had to get rid of it:(.I will have to ring the nurse and tell her what is going on as I can't carry on like this.I read on the other forum that there is a slow release version of the meds I am on so might need to change them for something a bit kinder on my stomache:p

I'm having to drink plenty of water as I feel quiet thirsty after last nights episode and need to get rid of this horrible tatse in my mouth.:(

Hope you all have a good day in all that you do:)

Hope you get to talk to your nurse Kandy - it's not easy when you're initially trying to get a decent balance of everything including meds.

I think the bad taste in the mouth is one of those things that comes with the condition, but it too can be helped. I think it's just about getting the balance which is right for you and then getting used to the lifestyle changes that you've made.

It's a cold one here this morning - a lovely day to sit at home working by the fire again :) Hopefully we get some of those humungous snow flakes that we got yesterday - looked so pretty falling but didn't cause any hassles :)

    Have a good day everybody

    Good morning everyone,

Yesterday's snow has gone but it is freezing out there.

Kandy, that ia a very good weight loss :gnthb:, keep it up. Hopefully you will be able to go on to controlling the diabetes by diet and be able to drop the tablets. Low carb diets are good but you can still eat certain carbs without too much problem. The main problem with carbs is that they turn to sugar very quickly so you need to eat the ones that convert slowly. These are usually the ones that take more chewing. For example: Instead of eating mash you should eat boiled new potatoes - but not too many. Brown rice is much better than white rice but if you want to eat white rice then basmati rice is best. Onions are OK but don't fry them until they go brown because that caramelises the sugars in them and releases the sugar too quickly. You probably know all this anyway :flag:

I hope you are feeling better and the horrible taste goes. :thmb: :luv:

I hope that everyone is feeling fine today :thumb:

    Have a great day :D

    Morning friends :)

Kandy I am back with weightwatchers as I have been "advised" to lose weight.I lost 4 pounds last week but it is hard going [well for me, a choccy lover it is!]

Well yesterday turned into a worry as we had to rush my son into hospital-we think it was another kidney stone as he was in agony poor chap. They admitted him, have done 3 different xrays on him and put him on morphine. He looked a lot better last night when we went to visit. It was worrying seeing him so ill. :(
I apologise if I am not quite with it!

Jazmine sorry to hear about your sons kidney stone problem and hope he gets better soon:thmb: One of Mr Kandy's work colleagues had kidney stones and has had to have a course of ultrasound to blast them to pieces and I think now he is a lot bettter:)

Jazmine my sister has just got her Gold certificate from Weightwatches as she has now lost 50lb through following their diet and using a trampette. This is with her being a newly diagnosed Diabetic{July 09}so if she can do it then so can you. They have even asked her to be a councillor but she declined, although she took her trampette to the class last week to show the other ladies how she works on it.We have also bought one and as well as walking round part of our village every night and both me and Mr Kandy uses it.I told my sister she ought to be on comission from Tesco's:D

Woo,thank you for your kind words and hope all is well with you:luv:

Natilie/Shiney,the Dr's have jsut rung with a message to say to try and keep taking the tablets for the next five days but if I still end up on the loo or with my head down it then I am to contact the diabetic nurse so we can have a chat so will see what happens:pIf I go missing for any length of time you will know where I am :D

Shiney,i forgot all about onions:dh:,i usually dry fry them until they are black:D I have been eating our charlotte new potatoes that we grew on the allotment last year and if I have a jacket potato I have been cutting them in half and eating them with some baked beans and a little bit of cheese on top.I try only to have mashed spuds once a week:)New spuds are a lower GI than old spuds{see I'm learning:D}and also I think you can add low GI foods to high GI foods and that makes them all a lower GI or something like that:p

We have brought some Golden Vegetable Savoury rice in a packet for me to try and it is a yellow colour:p and thanks for the tip about eating chewy food:thmb:

Also can you ask Mrs Shiney if she knows whether you can buy Cinnamon in capsule form or is it just in powdered form? I had my porridge made with water this morning as I have given up on drinking milk but it didn't taste as good made with water and the cinnamon didn't taste as nice either for some unknown reason:oops:

Oh and by the way,I have bought a new book called the Calorie,Carb and Fat Bible so I can now get some idea of the carbs in the foods I am eating:D

Hope you all have a good afternoon.:)

Kandy thanks a lot for your words, I am getting wound up here as I don't know what time he is going to theatre. I have heard of blasting kidney stones as they thought they would have to do that last time he was hospitalised but he passed it poor thing.
Well done to your sister losing all that weight! I am a gold member of WW :lollol: and have lost weight in the past but this is the most I have put on but taking 10 tablets a day does not help :(
Hopefully you will get your dosage correct - not nice with your head down the loo.
