    Morning everyone

The rain more or less held off here until well into the evening yesterday. I expected to find a scene of carnage this morning but hooray - the slugs and snails didn't find the new crocosmia shoots. Shiney and Jazmine - much as I love them, I've decided not to grow ceanothus any more as they do have a habit of just keeling over for no apparent reason. Getting the dead plants out of the ground is a major undertaking, too.

Hope your swans are OK, Woo. I'm holding off tidying up an overgrown patch at the end of the garden because I think we have a family of dunnocks nesting there somewhere. No sign of any house martins this year though :(. Such a shame. Until now they've been regular summer visitors. Hope they're OK - maybe they just fancied a change of neighbourhood.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Good morning everyone,

and a smiling :) good morning especially to woo for being so cheerful :yho:

Marley, good to see you here :thumb:. We only have one cat (he adopted us k-l) but he is the boss in our garden. There is no such thing as a cat hater when he is around. Even my sister, who is not keen on cats, loves him. BUT, animals are only allowed in if he says so. Dogs, no exception, are not allowed and anyone turning up with a dog takes them away quickly (doesn't matter how big the dog, it backs off quickly). Foxes are a no no. The other day one came into Oscar's greenhouse and went out rapidly - straight through the glass of the door. Birds in the garden are perfectly safe and some are so used to him that they walk right in front of him. Birds that go into the greenhouse are food. Other cats are here by invitation only and follow his rules. The sick cat from next door is allowed anywhere - even in the greenhouse and Oscar lets him eat from his bowl. The Bengal from up the road is banned. :)

Loopy, it must be tough having to go to the pub to watch the cricket :hehe:

Jazmine and Natalie, don't forget to have your car boots empty - and bring your cameras. It will be nice to see someone else's view of the garden. :thmb:

ClaraLou, I didn't know that slugs liked crocosmia . They don't go near ours :)

Mrs shiney has planted out quite a lot more hostas so is now using slug pellets (supposed to be bird friendly). She has been splitting a lot of them and also found a load of seedlings in one of our pots. :thumb:

    Have a great day :D

    Hi Shiney

Oscar sounds lovely. I also have a lovely cat, called William. He is ancient - I don't know quite how old, since he was a stray who came to stay - and he has his rules. There has to be a roaring fire in the house unless the weather is tropical, chicken must be on the menu, the frilly Persian down the road with the silly name is not allowed on his garden seat and no one sits on his dining chair when a Sunday roast is on the table. Not even a visitor. Other than that, he's very easy going :).

I'm sure my crocosmias got attacked last year. But then, my slugs and snails are Medway molluscs. They're tough.

    Good morning everyone,

Nice to see you all on here this morning:thmb:

Haven't got a lot of time to apre at the moment, what with physio and trying to catch up with everything that got neglected, and being that time of the year would much rather be out in the fresh air than stuck indoors.Been taking lots of flower photo's so it will be nice to sit down in the winter months to look back on them when the dark nights draw in:)

Have a few projects we are planning which is going to take up even more time but will at least have my camera ready to get piccy's through the stages and I will be helping out as much as I can so looking forward to the summer:p

Will catch up with you all as and when I can.Take Care,Kandy:)

    Good morning everyone,

Its sunny here and supposed to be a high of 68*, and no rain for a few days.

We worked outside pretty much all day yesturday, the beds are "officially" ready to be planted, but i still dont trust the weather, and we cut the grass, did all the trimming, i planted a few new perennials, cleaned the shed, the weather was far too nice to be inside.

All my seedlings were outside yesturday too, and i put them in the shed lastnight, rather then bringing them in, I'll go put them outside again in awhile.

Have some bedding in the wash, and the house is clean, so its a good Monday.

hello everyone :) Glad to hear you are all 'getting out there'

I am just back from a nice weekend with friends in Yorkshire. It was bitterly cold even though the sun was out ! Am I the only one that travels back from friends with not only a dozen of their new laid hens eggs........ but a container of their 'poo' for my compost too ? :lollol: ( I feel I should add I am referring to the hens poo at this point )
I came back and inspected my greenhouse and garden and all seems well. I have put the runner beans outside to harden off but will bring them in tonight. My latest succession of broad beans have shown themselves while I was away, and small fruit are forming on my patio Apricot ! Great. The tomato plants in the greenhouse are looking a better colour now. The cold made them look a bit pale but they are greening up thank goodness. 2 cucumber plants seem to have succumbed to the cold nights though. One is still going so fingers crossed. Peppers ( Orange Baby ) and caldero Chillis look fine and 2 Courgettes have sprouted while I was away. They are replacements for 2 which died, again due to the cold I think. These ones look very strong and healthy. Been to Wilko ( again ) and bought more compost and a large trough. Well lunch now methinks..... then out in the garden :)

Good morning everybody - yes Woo - 4:30 - 5:15 here right now is an absolute chorus of birds down here in the valley. It's amazing - and must consist of so many different birds. Can't identify them all - but they sound lovely :)

My legs ache this morning - playing sort of cross between baseball and dodgeball with the kids yesterday out front - lots of running :)

A week and a bit to go and another week off of work......hopefully we get some more beautiful days like this one is going to be :)

    Have a good day everybody!

Morning WOO and ClaraLou and NatalieB :)

Been up ages but only just came on here. Looks like a lovely day to come, and forcasts of warmer weather into the weekend :yho:
I have some garden furniture to stain/varnish, but whether I get round to it is another matter. I get distracted by other things in the garden :hehe:

    Have a nice day everyone

    Good morning everyone,

Woo, you got up just as I was going to bed :hehe:. At 4 a.m. the outside temperature was 40F - so still a bit nippy. The forecast for the next 7 days is quite warm (70F+) but then dropping back down again with cool days and chilly nights. Lets hope it changes from that.

    Busy, busy, busy :)

    Have a great day :D

    Morning friends :luv:

It's great to see everyone getting outside. I need to sort out my sons front garden which is mainly paved but has borders with some established plants and lots of weeds as the bungalow stood empty for quite a while. It needs a womans touch :yez:

Am off out today, meeting a friend for lunch and probably some shopping. It's a tough day today!

    Enjoy this lovely sunshine everyone.
