    Good morning everyone,

Its going to be another HOT day here, and supposed to rain later on, which we need!

I need to cut our lawn here and i might go up and cut the inlaws grass as well, so they dont need to do it......then we are driving close to Toronto to go out for supper and stop at a garden centre that i was at on Tuesday to get some more herbs they have.

    Great pic WOO.

Clara - it rained, but Mr & Mrs Shiney had umbrellas to hand for their guests :) A lovely, albeit quick, visit from us - but have to say - so nice when you meet people, some who you have known 'online' for five years, and they are exactly the person you think of them to be :) (okay Shiney, even if we did crossed on our meanigs of 'men's tools'.....hmmmmm lol)

Unfortunately traffic getting there on the M25 was horrific so arrived late, and seeing what the traffic was like on the way back, knew we had to leave earlier as well to get back for other commitments - but very glad we went and saw Shineys garden, and met Oscar whilst he quietly slept in his bed in the greenhouse!

Got to see some of Mrs. Shiney's wonderful glass work - a talented lady for sure.

Now that OH and son are off doing their thing for the evening, off to pick up a movie so the little guys and I can have movie night with the duvets!

Shiney, Jazmine and Roders - was great to meet you guys!

Jazmine and hubby - have a lovely rest of the weekend away, and enjoy your pampering once you get to Bedford :)

:) Nice to meet you too Hazel and Jazmine .

Yes Mr and Mrs Shiney (Michael and Hannah) certainly know how to entertain and make their guests feel very special.

They have a lovely garden, which Michael gave us a personal guided tour of,
Of course most forum members have seen the lovely pictures of his garden and his lovely lawns.

They gave us lunch in their beautiful summerhouse, such tasty food.

The highlight for me and Mrs Roders was when Hannah read to us all a poem by the poet laureate Robert Southey, an ancestor of Mrs.Roders.

It was great to talk to Michael about the beautiful Lake District as he is by way of an expert having written a book on easy walks up there and bless him he gave us a copy.

Yes it did rain a bit,but we all agreed that the gardens needed it so badly. When I got home though I found we had hardly any

So that is a big thank you to Mr. and Mrs.Shiny for your generosity.
And another big thank you for your charitable work, which was the object of the whole exercise.
    Take care both xx.

    Hi Clare,
yes, we are in the driest part of the country. Unfortunately nobody seems to have told the weather and it peed down from midday till 4.00 p.m. :(

Thanks, roders and Natalie for coming along to the open day :gnthb:. It was great to meet you. We had a very nice meal with Jazmine and OH in the evening at the Indian in the village. They shall be popping in again on their way to their relaxing day of being pampered :).

Unfortunately, some people got caught up int the horrible problems on the M25 (lots of accidents all round it) and didn't get here although they tried. :(

Even with the lousy weather yesterday we had nearly 200 people turn up. Without the help on the day of all our volunteers it would not have been possible :thmb:. Today looks as though it will be a nice one so I hope we get a lot more people come this afternoon.

We managed to exceed last year's takings despite the weather :yho:and I shall do a final tally tonight.

    Lots to do now.

    Have a great day :D

    Good morning everyone,

We had another busy day with the open garden and are delighted with the result - although we are cream crackered :hehe:.

Altogether we had 380 people wandering around our garden and made over £2,000 for the charity. :yho:

Today will be a tidying up day.

    Have a great day :D

So sorry the weather was a bit wretched, Shiney, but gardeners are mostly a hardy bunch ... glad to hear you had a good weekend despite the rain. :thumb:

Have just got home after a wonderful weekend.
We really enjoyed meeting the lovely Mr and Mrs Shiney, the equally lovely Mr and Mrs Roders and I met Natalie after years of chatting online :gnthb: I was quite excited and she was just as I imagined :hehe:
We all had a fantastic time, were SO well looked after by Mr and Mrs Shiney, nothing was too much for them.

    Morning Penny, Jazmine and everyone

So glad you all had such a good time, Jazmine. Miserable weather here, Penny - my cat has got the right idea. He's given up on the day already and gone straight back to sleep. He'll hope for better things tomorrow instead.k-lk-l
