Thanks Natalie and sorry I forgot to thank everyone who has been really kind. I think it has sort of hit me today -I just spoke to the hospital who explained a little. It seems he won't be home yet while he is on morphine but hopefully every day will get better.

    Good morning everyone,

It's a bit dreary out there this morning but I'm sure it will brighten up. :)

Jazmine, I hope they clear up Mat's infection quickly :thumb:. Then he will feeling more like his old self.

Yesterday went well and we all had a good time. I've got quite a lot of things to do before I start today's cooking so I will wish you all a happy Valentine's Day :gnthb:.

    Have a great day :D

    Good morning everyone,

Didn't wake up this morning until it was starting to get light and have been busy since emailing friends and getting today's and tomorrows dinners prepared and have just stopped for a quick mug of hot stuff:D

Wanted to see some of the olympics last night but phoned my sister up who has had a recent operation to see how she was getting on and we were laughing and chatting so much we thought her stiches would burst open so had to start to be serious.:pHopefully when the results come back what they removed hadn't started to turn nasty so fingers, toes and legs crossed that everything will be ok,although at the moment she is having problems crossing her legs:p

Hope you all have a great Valentines day with some decent weather as well:).Must dash as I have saucepans bubbling away on the stove and don't want a mess to be made all overthe top of the cooker:D

Fantastic picture Woo - I totally missed the sunset this morning due to being able to lie in till about 0830! wahoo :)

Shiney - what are you cooking today? I had a quiet day yesterday too - no cooking bacon butties for the rugby kids and none next week either - so two Saturdays off!

Kandy - hope all is good news for your sister - you know it's not nice to make someone laugh after surgery! lol - I think the luge runs start tonight at around 0130 our time, but we're really looking forward to the hockey games :)

Jazmine - hope you get some good news on Mat today

I was awoken this morning by hubby and kids - and a huge platter of steamed mussels, panfried scallops with roe and about 12 langoustine prawns, a dipping bowl of seafood sauce and a dipping bowl of garlic butter. What a breakfast to be awoken to - so we all sat and picked. Almost made 18 yr old late for his job - 'cos he knew there wouldn't be any saved for him on his return :)

Have a great Sunday everybody :)

Natalie, it sounds as though you have had a gourmet meal :gnthb:.

I'm only doing a veggie soup, chicken Marengo - with rice, but haven't yet decided what I shall do for dessert. It will be a surprise for all of us. :hehe:

Friends are due to arrive any moment so I had better get into the kitchen.

We've had our first two courses and I'm waiting on the apple crumble in the oven which should be ready just in time for the chocolate pots to come out of the fridge. :yho:

Shiney - I wasn't familiar with the name of the dish you made - is it like chicken cacciatore? I make that quite often and was about the closest I could think it might be from the ingredients. Sounds like everybody enjoyed :)

Jazmine - fantastic to hear Mat is home and improved :) Now when he gets better, he has to spoil you rotten for all the stress you've suffered :)

Natalie, cacciatore is usually done with marscapone and less of the other flavourings. Marengo is done with wine, more garlic and herbs. That's an oversimplification. :D

The other differences are in the tastebuds of the chef. :hehe:

hehe, maybe my cacciatore all these years has really been marengo....I've never used marscapone in it (I keep that for the tiramisu) and I do use wine, garlic and herbs......hmmmmm. I've always likened the cacciatore to spaghetti bolognese with chicken replacing the hamburger mince. Guess I should look up a cacciatore recipe - never have! haha
