    Good morning Kandy and everyone,

Kandy, I hope you win the lottery :gnthb:

The ladybirds are finally arriving in our garden but we really need swarms of them. Unfortunately they seem to prefer the rhubarb at the moment although there aren't any blackfly on them

Yesterday afternoon I finished cutting back all the aquilegia. :yho:

Sometime this week I hope to lift the garlic but I'm not sure I shall have the time. The blackberries are ready for picking but are suffering from lack of water. They're a bit shrivelled - I know the feeling :old: :hehe:

    Have a great day :D

    Good afternoon everyone,

I have been busy this morning and will be going allotmenteering this afternoon when me lunch has gone down.:p

Shiney if I did the lottery and won a lot then I would buy a large Motorcaravan, get myself a large suitcase which I would fill with packs of banknotes and then I would be off round the country visiting all the animal and bird rescue centres and then I would dish out money to them to help them to be able to feed and look after all the unwanted and sick animals/birds that people don't seem to want :D

If you and Mrs Shiney want a good garden to visit anytime you are down in the Paignton way and that is the NT garden of Coleton Fishacre. We spent a most enjoyable afternoon walking round the extensive gardens and didn't leave until neraly chucking out time so never had time to look round the house. We were going to go back later on in the week but ran out of time so don't know what the house looks like inside:p

    Hope you enjoy your afternoon:)

    Good morning Kandy and everyone,

Looks like this thread is just about dead,a bit like how I feel this morning:D

Anyway,we have some rain falling this morning so hopefully my veggies will pick up and start producing better crops and having placing more ladybirds on my beans the blackfly have nearly all gone so no need to spray nasty chemicals onto them:p

Hope you all have a good day and see you around sometime:D

Good morning Kandy :) and anybody else who pops in here later.

I was at my sons all day yesterday and back there again today ( house sitting, dog sitting and all the rest :skp: ) got home exhausted last night. I am too old for this...

Went to the Strumpshaw RSPB on Sunday-we took the long walk round but halfway round the heavens opened, my legs and feet seized up and I really struggled to make it back. Next time we will do the meadow walk :D

    Good morning everyone,

    Still no rain.

Kandy, we went to Coleton Fishacre in May :thumb:. It was very good but we had a bit of a drama getting out of there. We were in one of the biggest coaches in this country and the road to it is only just wide enough to get a coach down. Coleton Fishacre said it was OK to bring the coach in but did nothing to organise access. Our driver didn't realise how long and narrow the road was.

When we came out (the stone gatposts left only a 2" gap either side) we then had to swing slightly to get down the access road. This took about 10 minutes of wiggling with the driver being directed by someone in front and me at the back. The coach was then into the road and ready to drive the three quarters of a mile along the narrow stretch.

Unfortunately there were already 10 cars that had come down the road and there was nowhere for them to get out of the way. The coach couldn't back up into the gardens so I went to each car driver in turn and told them they were going to have to back all the way up the road until we could pass them. The first three drivers were fine but the fourth one had road rage and said he wasn't going to back up and started having a go at me. I said 'It's nothing to do with me as I'm only trying to help.' Which didn't make any difference. He continued to shout and swear so I walked away saying 'OK, you can sit here all day because the coach can't back up'.

Of course, whilst all this was going on there were more cars coming down the road. I went to the next car and told the driver the problem and asked him to tell all the other drivers to back up whilst I ran right up the road to stop traffic coming down. I then turned away everyone who was approach the narrow road. The whole thing took about an hour and a half with me standing out in the blazing sun of the heatwave.

Coleton Fishacre could have solved the problem easily by sending a driver up the road to the wide bit and stopping traffic. Then phoning back to say we can leave. It would have only taken just over 10 minutes. They weren't interested

Blackfly are still a major problem in the garden and they have spread to the courgettes but the ladybirds are just beginning to arrive.

One of our smaller specimen conifers has died so that needs to come out.

Apart from that, everything is doing OK in the garden and the beans, courgettes and rhubarb are cropping heavily. Sweetcorn is coming on well :thumb:.

    Have a great day :D

Hello Kandy, Shiney, Woo and everyone

I finally got the first cherry tomato to ripen - just the one!!! I served it to the OH with a great flourish. The only trouble is, the others don't appear to be following in its footsteps. Hmmm. There is only so much green tomato chutney you can eat.

    Have a good day, everyone.

    Evening friends :luv:

Woo I guess the kiss of life worked! I will be waiting for the same tomorrow :lollol:

Had a busy day at my sons. I locked me and OH out so had to climb on a box to then climb on the wheelie bin, then get through a small window sideways, what a palava. I need to slim :D

Loopy Lou is without her computer until it hopefully gets fixed on Friday. She said Hi to everyone.

    Good morning everyone,

woo, what a lovely warm and friendly picture :) :thumb:

Jazmine, did you know that unless you are qualified in breaking and entering and have joined the union, there may be a strike called because of your actions? And I hope you did a full and proper Health and Safety assessment before even attempting to gain access. :hehe:

Clare, we're all volunteering to help you spend your lottery win. :yho:

We finally got some of the promised rain yesterday :gnthb: and now we have brilliant sunshine.

    Have a great day :D
