Good morning Marley, Doghouse, penny and everyone,

    Marley, woof woof :hehe:

Doghouse, welcome to Wakey Wakey :gnthb:. You obviously enjoyed your golf despite the weather.

penny, your heatwave has been going for some time now. I'm not keen on hot weather so definitely wouldn't enjoy it.

I'd better go to bed as I have an early breakfast meeting later on.

I've been working on planning part of our winter holiday. I've got to sort out what we shall do when (and if) we get to the Isles de Salut - apart from visiting the old penal colony on Devil's Island. It may depend on whether they are going to launch Soyuz from the Guiana Space Centre sometime around then. We may have to give it a miss.

    Have a great day :D

    Good morning Woo and everyone,

Lovely day today and I can see the rays of the sun just coming up over the back of the houses.:)

Had a good day yesterday which included spending a couple of hours sitting out in the sun chatting to my sister on the phone, that was until it bucketed it down with rain so had to pack everything up and rush indoors, but forgot to rescue my container of bird seed so it got all wet and soggy:p

Marely,we don't have anyone to help us do all these gardening jobs so have to manage on our own as best as we can.Our neighbours all pop round and over to see our progress but then they all leg it back home to their bottles of booze and their play stations:hehe:

Riley, nice to see you on here, but golf isn't something I know a lot about although a lot of my young friends play the game on a regular bases:D

Hope you all have a great day as I know i will:D

    Good Morning everyone.

Kandy, sitting in the sun is a must. And it's always a bonus when you're talking to someone you care about. Sorry the rain came though, how rude of it!

WiseOldOwl, you have a lovely day too. What an early bird you are!!

Shiney, hope you got a good sleep!!

Today promises to be rather an exhausting day. I'll be out in the garden all day, along with my Father in Law, and our odd job man, tackling an area of garden that has been left to go wild, and I mean wild, for a few years now. When we first moved in (a fair few years ago) I was able to keep on top of the garden and all it's areas, (just tidying it, not real gardening) but since the recession kicked in, I had to go back to work. So, as a result the garden suffered, and was left to it's own devices. :o
But now I'm not working so many hours, we're trying to get back on top of it. But by gum, it's hard work, and will take some time! lol
So as the weather looks like it's going to be on our side, I dare say I'll be out there a good 7 hours! I shall be fit for nothing this evening, apart from a glass of falling down water.

Right, off to do a quick bit of ironing before chaos ensues! :hehe:

Hope everyone has a lovely day today. xxx

    Good morning everyone,

Joolz, I had a good 2.5 hours sleep :gnthb:. Just back from my meeting and have some paperwork to clear before going into the garden.

I shall have another go at shaping our specimen conifers. They are too big for me to use my normal hedgecutter and have borrowed one from a friend. The trouble with it is that I can hardly lift it :old:. It has a fairly powerful engine and is about 8ft long. There is not too much problem using it at the lower levels because it is then supported by the shoulder strap but at the higher levels I am having to lift it. My poor old arms and back are getting a bit weak for doing too much of that :hehe:. I only managed one tree the other day before I had to give up :(.

Mrs shiney was very pleased yesterday. She put a lot of entries into a local horticultural show and won lots of prizes. Three firsts, seven seconds, one third, two highly commended, a silver cup and the RHS Banksian Medal. :yho:

    Have a great day :D

Afternoon friends and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY Penny :hpbthd: I love the sound of a get together for a pint or maybe a glass of bubbly although I am not really supposed to drink :rotfl:

It's great to see more people in here but I got very confused reading the back posts as to whether it was morning, today or yesterday  It doesn't take much to confuse me!!
Kandy I am on quite a bit of medication but mine is known to put on weight so I must try harder as I have not felt good the past few days.

I managed to get outside and do some tidying in the garden My sweet peas are nothing like they have been in past years. They are quite poor. The tomatoes are just getting some colour.
Enjoy the rest of the day everyone :luv:

    Morning all.

What a day yesterday. I was positively exhausted by the evening. But we managed to clear a lot of the brambles etc away in the area we were working on. Just a little more to clear, which I'm going to have a go at today, (the food shopping can wait!!) and then hopefully, it'll be cleared. Then I can work on making good the soil, ready for some lawn seed. And I'm going to turn a small corner of the area into a flower bed, it'll give me some more colour from out of the kitchen window.

At the moment, I'm relaxing with my morning cuppa (my second one!!) whilst watching the birds flitter about the garden. Mind you, there are two pigeons having a bit of a ding dong up the top of the garden. Might have to go and throw some cold water over them!! Too early for that malarky, :hehe:

Shiney, I'm glad that the sleep you had was sound, but 2.5 hours is not enough!! Hope you got more than that last night. xx

Jazmine, sorry to see that you've not been feeling well recently. Hope you're feeling brighter today. [IMG]

Penny, what did your girls cook for you last night??? Hope your special day was wonderful xx

So now, I shall stop whittering on, and give all your eyes a rest!!

Have a great day everyone xx

    Good morning everyone,

It is another lovely sunny day that isn't too hot :gnthb:. Just right for 3 or 4 hours of mowing.

woo, keep well and enjoy this lovely weather :gnthb:

Jazmine, I hope you are feeling better today :thumb:

Joolz, my usual sleep time is 3 - 4 hours so 2.5 is quite sufficient if it is a really good sleep. :)

A friend phoned early this morning to tell Mrs shiney that she is in the local paper (we don't get it) for her great success at the horticultural show the other day :yho:. I suppose I will have to make an appointment to talk to her in future :hehe:.

    Have a great day :D

    Good morning everyone,

It's the first time I have been able to get on this morning because everytime I tried getting onto a thread a message kept coming up to say the link was broken, although I could see the frist site page at the front so don't know what went wrong:scratch::cnfs::oops:

Anyway, just got back from nipping into town to have my hair cut and then popped into a card shop for some wrapping paper, and when I spotted they were selling Christmas cards, got some friends cards and some for the neighbours,so I have made a start.I already have some prezzies so will have to think about getting them wrapped soon:hehe:

Shiney, well done on Mrs Shiney on winning the prizes at the horticultural show:gnthb:

Jazmine, you will have to put up with the weight gain then if your meds are making you put on weight and feeling unwell:oops:.Sounds like you are fighting a losing battle though:(

Joolz,I need lots of sleep or else I don't feel good with only a small amount of rest, although when we have the light mornings,I am often up quiet early {5ish}and gets loads done ourtside before everyone else gets up,although I can't make too much noise as the neighbours might complain:D

We had quiet a bit of rain last night so the grass looks nice and lush and me waterbutt is full again, but silly us forgot to seal up the slight leak we have near the tap when we emptied it the other week,to save the goldfish:dh:

Hope you all have a good day.I'm just off to wrap some prezzies then hoover my car out:)

    Afternoon Gardeners.

I'm fed up!! All it's done today is rain, rain, and more rain; with the odd rumble of thunder thrown in for good measure.
Mind you, I did do my food shopping, and have also completed my Mount Everest sized ironing pile, but I'm itching to get outside! Looks like it'll be a soggy weekend too. `sigh`

Ahh well, nice weather for ducks. :hehe:
