    Good morning everyone,

woo, you don't see pictures like that very often :thmb: - maybe once in a blue moon :hehe:. I see that one of your distant relations is causing big problems over in Wales. Apparently there is an Eagle Owl on the loose around Cardiff. I understand that they are quite partial to a cat or dog for breakfast :(

I overdid the gardening yesterday and my back was playing up last night. My own silly fault as I'm old enough to know better :old:. I've only had trouble with it for 57 years and had an op on it 48 years ago. It's feeling a lot better now but shall take it easy today :thumb:.

We're off to a piano recital this evening, in aid of charity, at a large 14C house in a village near us. Not sure whether I will enjoy it but will enjoy the socialising afterwards :yho:.

    Have a great day :D

picked my new car its not sporty but its real nice pegeout 307 hatchback 3 door put pics in non gardening discussion, got megane for the minute till mot etc is done, the garage has been great to me not many garages would of done all this but he has his reputation to think of and he likes to keep his customers happy so good on him, it wasnt his fault what happened to the megane its just one of those things, what i like about the garage with hubby being away hes been a great help to me.

    Good morning everyone,

Its another HOT one here, and no sign of rain.

Have another busy day planned today, off to a friends here in awhile to pick up a dresser, then off to another friends house to pick out our trailer needed to move my daughter off to College in a couple weeks, and then to my In-laws for supper.

So have a great day everyone

morning everyone, no posts yet i was suprised hehe, been raning here a little sunny.
had my neighbour on phone last night extremely upset, downstairs that has lovely roses growing in the back of her garden , someone has been in our back and knocked over all her lights and i planted 2 flower bushes and 1 is missing, so someone is coming in and doing this we have a back tall gate surrounded by the large garages and big walls, the only thing i can think of theres a family next doot to her with loads of kids and they are not a nice family neighbours from hell so to speak and the wall that runs down from hers to their house is quite low, bet them kids have jumped over the wall, she agrees with me, as their neighbour on the other side of this family are having teribbe rows about the noise and arguments from this family, i nearly had a running with the husband about car parking last year at front, he was near my rover and cursing i watched him from the front window he didnt touch my car, just aswell or i would of called the police.
anyway thats my rant over hehe have a great day

    Good morning everyone,

I can't beleive that I'm the first on here at this time of the morning :). I've been having a stroll round GC :thumb:

The piano recital was very good last night. It was at someone's house and was in aid of the local hospice. The players were the house owner, his father-in-law, a friend and his 10 year old nephew. Apart from the boy they were all professionally trained and played a variety of music from classical to Gershwin. The boy had never had a lesson in his life but was superb and played his own compositions :gnthb:. There was plenty of food and drink and good socialising :yho:

It is another sprinkler on the veggie day today and a lot of picking of fruit will be done. :thmb:

    Have a great day :D

    Good morning Rosa,Shiney and everyone.

Had a really bad nights sleep and was still awake at 3am,just looking up at the ceiling in the half light as we have a street light right outside the bedroom window.Anyway, when Mr Kandy got up at six I must have crashed out and was off in the land of nod for an hour I think it was.My head feels like it is a fog now:( I have been into town this morning on an errand and was there before the shops opened,so once that was done I called in B&Q to see what bulbs they had got in and nded up buying another water butt for the garden as they are on offer at the moment for £11.98 and then I had to get the stand which was £9.98 which was nearly as much as the water butt:p Dave the kind man who carried the water butt out to the car said if it doesn't fit the space then I can take it back and get my money back:thumb:

We were forced to go out yesterday afternoon becauise there was an air race going on for the second day round the villages and the flight path was right over our house. We put up with it on Saturday but yesterday couldn't stand the noise every minute so we jumped in the car and went off to our favourite nursery for a couple of hours.I think we should sue the plane people because our nerves were that bad we were forced into some retail therapy and ended up buying yet more plants for the garden:D

Rosa, sorry about your neighbours problems, there are some right toe rags around and thye don't care who they upset. The new family at the bottom of our garden as a child with problems and he screams and shouts at the top of his voice whenever he is playing in the garden.I am surprised you can't hear him up your end of the country.I think the little sod needs a good slap:D

Shiney glad to hear you enjoyed the recital after all and that the food and drink was to your liking:D

We picked lots of plums and beans yesterday, plus some more carrots.I am going to prepare some more beans this morning ready for freezing and eating fresh, then will see what I can do with the plums:)

I have a nice sized Butternut squash on the allotment Shiney but can't remember how you know when to pick them as the others rotted last year so didn't have any for eating ,any suggestions from an expert will be greatfully recieved.:thumb::luv:

Well the sun is out so I am going to get my shorts on and go and sit outside to enjoy the weather and to get these veggies done:D

Hope you both have a good day:luv:

morning kandy, sorry to hear you had a bad nights sleep nothing worse is there. i was at B&Q looking at compost bins seen them water butts, but have decided when i get allotment buying on e-bay a wood beehive shape compost bin they look lovely a bit more expensive, so im going to buy one as they are flat pack so will keep it with all my other allotment purchases i have in my large cupboard.
have a great day hope your water butt works well tell me do they collect rain water is that what they are for.

Kandy, you should leave the squash on the plant as long as possible. Putting something under the squash to stop it resting on wet ground may help - roof slate or tile, plastic, wood etc. If possible it should be on the plant until it starts getting a slight orangey tone to it. We tend to leave them on until end Sept beginning Oct. When you pick them you should keep as much of the stalk on the squash as possible (where it joins the growing runner). At least two inches if you can. This helps it to seal and stop rotting from that end.

    Good luck :gnthb:
