    Aloha everyone,

Woo, keep wrapped up warm, stay out of the wind and rain and you'll soon be bright eyed and fluffy tailed :blue thumb:

Loli, you mustn't say that to people who live on the coast! :nonofinger: :heehee:

Although Mrs S was feeling quite rough last night our team still managed to win the table quiz (that's the sheets of questions that are left on each table and you're allowed all evening to work on them. This time they were anagrams of London Tube stations, pictures of bridges and cryptic clues to food and drink). That's the fifth year running that we've won that prize - which gives us our entry fees back :blue thumb: We've still never managed to win the main quiz.

It's still very windy but still no rain - yet. There are floods 10 miles north, south and west of us and, two miles away, the river is now running over the top of the lock gates and down the road!

We're off out tonight, to the Indian, as guests for some of the good things we've done :dancy:

Keep dry and have a great day

    Aloha!

Just got wet filling the bird feeders up they do get through some nuts and seed. £3 worth of peanuts a week! the seed I buy by the sackful but that only lasts a couple of weeks or so.

Shiney hope you got to grips with all your e-mails and organising.

Loli, thought March was the month for high winds. Oh please can we have an early spring?

WOO cannot have you with your feathers ruffled dear Mrs W will have to smooth you down.

Have a good day all and stay warm and dry and above all safe. God bless.

                      Morning everyone,

Its not as cold here today and we haven't had any new snow, so that works for me!!

I'm home today, and I need to do some bedding as well as some cleaning, may go and wash the truck too.

We had a busy weekend, not alot of painting done though, every time we tried, someone would show up...so hopefully we'll get some done over a few nights this week.

Off to throw some clothes into the dryer........enjoy your day everyone.

                            Aloha everyone,

Woo, the rag I get usually has olive oil or coconut oil :heehee:

Hi Jazmine, nice to see you :blue thumb:. I wish it was easy to sort out my desk. A lot of it is trying to sort out problems that other people have failed at! That, sometimes, means a lot of research or a good deal of dragging things up from memory (names, contacts, incidents etc).

One of the more simple ones is about to be taken in hand now. The street light outside my neighbours house (one of only three lights in two miles of road) went out at the beginning of December. He's been trying to get the council to put a new bulb in it since then.

Although he has now been getting the help of the Parish Clerk and our local district councillor they're getting nowhere. The district council, the highways agency and the county council all deny responsibility for the street light. Apparently, at first, they all denied that the light existed!!

I've done a bit of research and found out some interesting things about street lights. Did you know that the electricity that they use is not metered? Each authority has a statutory duty to keep an Asset Register of all lights (street lights, crossing lights etc.) and send a return to the UK Power Network. There's a complicated formula under which the authority then gets charged for the power expected to be used. This formula takes into account how far north or south the authority is (affects how long their night-time is) and whether the authority has registered for 'dimming and trimming' (reducing the lighting output or the time the lights are on).

Local Authorities have, quite rightly, a horror of having mistakes found on their financial audit - which would occur if they don't have the light on their register - and I shall threaten to let their and the UKPN auditors know of it. Evil , aren't I? :heehee: One light doesn't sound much but, of course, it could mean that they're making mistakes with lots of others so a full audit may ensue.

Keep well and have a great day

                            Aloha!

                                Morning everyone,

Its another cold one here, but the sun's out today, so it doesn't seem so bad....and no snow again.

I was supposed to go down to Toronto, but thats now tomorrow, so i'll do some errands instead and have a stack of laundry to put away.

                                Enjoy your day everyone.
