    Afternoon all.

Raining here too now. Visitors have gone home so I'd hoped to have a good catch up on garden jobs this afternoon but the rain and thunder have stopped play. Save me watering later I suppose.

Hope everyone has had a great Easter break.

      Afternoon everyone,

Violet looked very tired at lunch time so I picked her up and we had a wander around the garden,it turned out to be her last stroll:sad:....she quietly slipped away in my arms....a relief on all parts I think...:chicken:....she's gone off to chooky heaven with a handful of corn to see her on her way:thumbsup:....look well if I end up with a corn field in the garden:doh:

The weather has took a turn, from being lovely and warm and sunny to chilly and rain...still good for the garden:blue thumb:

Oh Loli, God rest her little soul, Violet you had a good life but chookies are so limited my darling little bird. Loli you must miss them so much when it is their time but their time is so limited. God bless and you. I hope you are ok.

Funny old day here hope everyone is ok. I am suffering with sciatica and so am off to bed God bless.

Morning all, hope you are well.

Back to work today after 4 days off, didn't get as much done in the garden over the weekend as I would have liked, so hope the weather holds fair and I can catch up a bit after work...

                      Have a great day.

                        Aloha everyone,

I got lots done in the garden yesterday. Cut more lawn edges as they had been impossible because the ground had been rock hard.

I also started tidying up the nursery areas. Two hours of removing leaves and other rubbish from the pots that have been there since last year, sorting out the dead plants, grouping the others into species and which ones may be suitable/big enough for sale, which need repotting (most of them), which need planting out, which are promised to friends and removing well over 100 snails from under all the trays and giving them a holiday in the ditch of the field opposite.

Mrs Shiney has been very busy splitting plants from the borders and potting them. She has needed help with digging them out and cutting them with a spade as it was too tough for me! The ground is much too dry and compact in the areas where plants have been in for twenty years or so. Even Michael, who's now helping out (Mrs Shiney's teaching him about gardening) had a struggle. He had to jump onto the spade :hate-shocked: to cut through the Iris siberica and Aruncus sylvestris! All potted up and labelled :blue thumb:. We may split more of the Irises.

Michael has been helping with some of the heavy work, the really heavy weeding and things like filling the holes the badgers had made in the lawns. That was a hands and knees job in some places as they were under trees. That took seven big barrow loads of soil :phew:.

                        Have a great day

                        Aloha!

                          Good Morning everyone,

Loli so you will have a sheaf of corn where you have buried poor violet. No different to planting ornamental grasses really and bless her she will always have plenty in her new life.

Steve sorry you did not achieve as much as you had planned. still hopefully after work you might catch up a bit but maybe not today with the weather forecast.

Jenny, nice to see you, don't be a stranger on here. You too Fern!

Shiney, you are steaming ahead with your garden but then time is pushing on for you just a matter of weeks now until Open Day. Did you put the notice up somewhere Shiney because I haven't seen it anywhere?Have a good day everyone, and God bless all.:wub2:

                              Good morning everyone,

Thank you all for the kind words :chicken::grphg:
Steve it's hard work going back after a break isn't it:rolleyespink: I write myself lists of jobs and never get through them because I get distracted by something else and think while I'm at this end of the garden I'll just to this, which leads to that and then the other,so the list gets longer:doh:

Shiney, looking at some of the other threads of your garden you've made amazing progress it looks beautiful:wub2:It makes it such hard work when the ground is so dry...I found that out when I buried Violet:chicken: yesterday....3 spits deep before I came to any sign of moisture, makes you wonder how the plants survive. It's unheard of here in Yorkshire to be this dry at this time of the year..We have had quite a downpour overnight but I'll still have to water:rolleyespink:

Moyra...Hope your Sciatica has eased off overnight:thumbsup:

Woo....Have you got that 'puncture' fixed...we need you 'bouncing' back:thumbsup:

Lili...Hope you and Mr Lili enjoy your break:dbgrtmb:
