              Aloha everyone,

It was such a mild day yesterday and no wind so I started off by cutting Mrs Shiney's hair out in the garden. :blue thumb: The birds quite often take the hair for nesting :)

Then I had another big bonfire. When I started there was a slight wind that took the smoke across the field. Once it got going properly the wind turned round and started blowing the smoke towards the neighbour that nobody likes. :noidea: :heehee: He came out ready to complain, looked over the fence - and then the wind turned round again! :snork:

This morning I may have a bit of bother at the village hall. It's bridge club this afternoon and we usually get about 80 people turning up and we fill the whole of the car park (hirers pay for the use of the car park in their hiring charge). It's a private car park for use by the hirers but, over the years, we have had trouble with the 'school run'.

The school know that the parents are not allowed to use the car park but never do anything about it. A few years ago the big 4 x 4's that the mums drove did so much damage to the car park that it cost £17,000 for it to be repaired. That was without the additional cost of repair to the wood cladding of the hall where they caused damage by awful manoeuvring (caught on CCTV). Their bad manoeuvring also caused a number of accidents to the school children - one of our friends had her son's leg broken by a car.

So the hall put in an electric barrier that closes just before the time of the school run. Today we have a problem because the school are having their Christmas concert that starts before our bridge club and before the timing of the barrier closing. So I'm having to go up there at 11 a.m. to lock the barrier down (turn off the time clock).

Although private, the road through the middle of the car park is the access for a couple of bungalows at the end. The residents (they have zappers for opening the barrier) also get problems from the school when there are events on there as parents just leave their cars haphazardly in the car park and block access - just like someone parking on your driveway! This is illegal as the road through the car park is a permitted public access for emergency vehicles. One of the residents is quite ill and disabled and ambulances have to come for her fairly often.

This may sound a bit bad to restrict the parents for a Christmas concert but the school could easily open its two playgrounds for the cars (the teachers usually park in one of them during term time). Also, my bridge members are fairly old (about 40 of them are over 80) and quite a few would have trouble walking from the village car park.

The parents don't want to walk their little darlings to school (60% are villagers) and wouldn't dream of parking in the village car park 300yds away!

The concert is having three performances (or three different groups doing different performances ) today and tomorrow. So tomorrow I shall close the barrier again and keep it closed until the evening when I have my club again. The afternoon hirer will be given the code for the keypad on the barrier so he can let his people in and out. He runs two Karate classes for children through late afternoon and early evening. I don't think the parents will intimidate him :heehee:. They sometimes try it with me but I'm difficult to intimidate :old: (I write down their reg. No. and threaten to call the police).

The reluctance of parents to walk the kids, even if it's just from the car park, has created other problems as they park in the residential area round the corner - and block the doctors' surgery car park. The council have had to put down yellow lines! It wouldn't be too bad if the mums didn't stop and natter for up to an hour! :dunno:

Phew!! Got that off my chest :heehee:

Keep well and have a great day

              Aloha!

                Morning all:spinning:

                Back in the room again:sofa:

Not feeling to bright today, all blown up like a puffer fish, I think my
pleurisy is taking hold again, coughing like a good 'un.:cry3: Back to the doctor's...again.

My tree (artificial) arrives on Thursday, then I can set to and get that decorated. Cards
are done. all food is bought, so just need to sit back and wait for the festivities.

Have a good day everyone. Stay warm and well, and if anyone is from the devastated
                area's take care. :imphrt:

Good morning all, Shiney you do have problems with that car park as you say the school could open up a playground would be the answer. Lili, so sorry you are so ill again, we need to get you right for Christmas. A prayer or two upstairs might help, wish you well again.

WOO are you and yours still suffering, I hope not.

I have walked Amber in the rotten rain but told myself to be grateful it is not as bad as up north.
I was well covered and she enjoyed the towel rub when she came in.
Do have a good day all, stay warm and dry but most of all safe and well. God bless.:wub2:

                        Morning early people :)

Shiney, next time you know there's an event on at the school, leave the car park unlocked and then lock it after the mums have parked in there and charge them £500 each as a release fee :)

Get better before Christmas Lilly :grphg: Loli sends her best wishes to you too :)

Off to Cerne Abbas for Christmas lunch with the National Trust today, get to meet the other volunteers from Portland House and Hardy's Cottage too :)

Have a good day everyone and don't get kissed by a rose on the wind :)

                              ta for the tea, Q

Liliana, I am sorry to hear you have pleurisy. I had that many years ago, the viral type and after 10 days in the hospital I had lost so much weight that I was down to under 6 stone. That is a painful and frightening illness to have.

I think the idea of accidentally locking the vehicle in is priceless...:heehee: I saw somewhere on the internet a picture of a truck purposely parked diagonally across two spaces and some kind soul had used children's sidewalk chalk to draw an arrow pointing to it and the words "Jackass Parking" - well, they used something a little stronger than Jack.

Have a wonderful rest of the day,
