    Afternoon all :spinning:

Well, I am at sixes and sevens. :frown:

I feel I am going around in a fog, My legs are walking, but the brain is not
    connecting.

Really heavy downpour yesterday, this afternoon will have to get things put
    right that bore the brunt.:dunno:

Hope everyone is doing well, and have an eventful day.

                  Aloha everyone,

@moyra @liliana I hope you are both feeling well today :grphg:

@wiseowl Enjoy your day out :blue thumb:

@lykewakewalker have a relaxing day

I hope that the mosquitos that have been feeding on me the last few days are enjoying themselves! They get me even through my clothes . On me, the bites always turn to blisters . When I travel to all those far away places, wander through rain forests and jungles I never get bitten. In England I get eaten alive!!!

Beans are doing well now, apart from the rabbited ones, and I hope to have 50lb for sale for my Tuesday customers. :blue thumb:

The electrician did a good job on all the odd jobs that needed doing but couldn't quite finish. He replaced the extractor fan, with light in it, in my shower (needed new fan and transformer), replaced two ceiling lights (two new transformers), and tried to sort out the problem with our lights under the kitchen units. This became a problem.

One of the units had the light flashing all the time (so I kept the switch turned off) and should have been a simple job of a new starter and tube. He picked up two new starts and two new tubes (as spares) when he got all the other things. Then he replaced them in the unit. The light kept flashing so he took a starter and tube out of another unit and tried that. It worked fine :blue thumb:. So he tried the new ones in the unit that had been working OK and it was flashing!!

He then checked the starters that his professional wholesalers (in a town 7 miles away) had given him and they weren't rated high enough for the tubes . So he phoned them and told them in no uncertain terms what he thought of their service. The manager of the wholesalers came out immediately (15 mins) with the proper starters and apologised. The electrician put one in and the light still continued to flash :wallbanging:. Consternation all round :mute:. They spent some time trying to work out what was wrong and, finally, admitted defeat.

The manager then took down all the serial numbers on all the equipment (couldn't see anything different from normal) and said he would contact the manufacturers and hopes to have those parts here today. He'll deliver them as soon as they turn up and I hope they will work. :fingers crossed:

The other job the electrician was going to do was replace the fan in the greenhouse that had finally given up after 40 years continuous use. So he took that out, with the rotten wooden panel it was set into in the gable end, and had asked the wholesalers if they could still get the same one. Yes they could  but it's £280 :hate-shocked:. He could replace it with a £50 one but it's not really rated for the job. So we shall do without one. Now I've got to get some glass, or plywood, to fill the gap.

Today's another day :) and the forecast is tropical heat. It didn't drop below 66F during the night :phew:. 29C forecast for tomorrow.

Keep well and have a great day

                  Aloha!

                    Morning all :spinning:

Feeling a bit better today, :blue thumb: though the weather does not give
you any inspiration to do anything exciting.

Managed to clear quite a few plants, tidied their leaves, put the pots
in the final positions for planting. Deadheaded the dahlias, and transplanted
                    some seedlings.

Market day today, so off out shopping later, and to get some more netting
to cover the last planting of brassicas. Pesky white butterflies.:mute:

I have a large Conference pear tree loaded with fruit, now do I pick
them now whilst they are still hard? I like them, but I like a soft fruit, like
                    a Williams pear. What's the consensus?

Well, everyone have a good day.

It's probably a bit early for Conference at the moment. Let them develop in size and become sweeter. Once picked they will still be hard but will gradually become soft (could take a couple of weeks).

                      Aloha everyone,

I've done an hour's gardening already. :blue thumb: Shall have some breakfast soon then another hour or so before it gets too hot. It just missed 30C yesterday and shall be hotter today.

In our new bed in the front garden the climbers that we planted have gone very rampant and I spent nearly two hours yesterday unwinding them from the other plants.

They had been strangling them and pulling them all over the place. I've had a strong word with them and moved the runners to a better place. Some have been wound up the trellis work and others have been pushed between the slats of the fence or over the top (my neighbour says he's happy to have them coming through to his side of the fence and he just has lawn there).

Apart from the new clematis (Armandii) we have a lot of annuals that are very fast growers and the morning glory are resplendent.

We made an impromptu invitation to friends for dinner this evening. So I'm thinking of what to do whilst I'm typing this. I think I'll do something fairly easy that I can cook before it gets too hot out there.

How's about a starter of avocado (got some nice ripe ones in the kitchen) with a choice of smoked salmon (special offer from Sainsbury's :)) or some of Mrs Shiney's special nut roast (in the freezer) with a light mayonnaise dressing with a hint of horseradish.

Main course will be a chicken (thighs, as I have some here) casserole done with tomato, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, courgettes, mushrooms (all already in the fridge) and livened up with some wine (I always keep left overs in the fridge for cooking) and accompanied by mustard mash and some very sweet yellow French beans (Mrs Shiney won an award for the beans at the Show :blue thumb:).

Dessert will be blackberry mousse (loads to pick in the garden), golden plums (all picked now, as the wasps were getting them), strawberries and grapes. They can have thick coconut milk with it if they wish (always in stock, whereas we don't keep cream here).

So, as the TV chefs say, you can always knock up something from things you have lying around :loll:. I can't do it in 20 minutes the way they do it but it shouldn't take much more than an hour. :dbgrtmb:

So I'll now have a bowl of gruel and get back to work. :snork:

                      Have a great day

                      Aloha!

It's a low key start to the day here in WY, Bailey and I have had our morning walk so hoping that the sun will appear later just as it did yesterday.
I am hoping to get my onions "strung up" today, got to be better than watching England bat!!!:gaah:
