          Aloha everyone,

Loli, Tuesdays were always the traditional day for discounted hair-dos for pensioners and it quite often seemed to be windy or rainy! So we kept a large stock of the little plastic rain hats and gave them away free of charge. I deplore the misuse of the English language with terms such as 'for free'! 'Free' is an adjective and not a noun :nonofinger: Fussy old wotsit, aren't I?:old: :heehee:
Another misuse of the language that has become very prevalent, particularly on news broadcasts, is 'up next'.

No, I couldn't have got out of bed on the wrong side because I never go to bed! :lunapic 130165696578242 5: I'm just fulfilling my honoured status in my avatar display.

I have another funeral to go to tomorrow. I think that's the ninth one this year.

The Bathroom Saga:- It turned out that the ply wall wasn't as thick as Phil thought. The framework had been built very strongly but the plywood was only 6mm thick. Phil says that was probably because the tiles are extremely thick (12.5mm) and should have been good enough to stop any water seepage - especially as they had been fixed extremely well. He thinks that the warping may have been due to just a damp atmosphere over the eleven years since the bathroom was refitted.

I like to have a long hot shower every day and Mrs Shiney has a spa bath. Even though I clean my shower straight after having used it and dry the glass and walls :pathd:there is a lot of dampness generated.

The new material will be 12mm thick which would create real problems as it would then make the tiles stick out past the framework of the shower. So the half wall would have to be totally rebuilt .

Unfortunately the tiles are no longer available and I only have enough spares to cover the outside of the wall. Fortunately, tongue in cheek :snork:, I have spare floor tiles which are a contrasting but similar tile. These are only 6mm thick and will solve the problem and save a new wall being made and the whole of the shower framework being removed and replaced.

The only aesthetically annoying part is that the floor tiles are 300 x 300 whereas the wall tiles are 600 x 300, but it is inside the shower :).

I had an enormous bonfire yesterday and shall go down to the end of the garden and tidy it up. I'll need to rake all the unburned branches from the periphery of the fire into the middle, ready for the next bonfire.

Keep well and have a great day

          Aloha!

Moyra, Mrs Shiney phoned the surgery this morning and has an appointment at 9.30.

Phil's coming back this evening to put fungicide/preservative on all the timber support and to make the new walls. Then the window will need to be open for at least 12 hours to let the fumes out. Then he'll be back another evening to tile it all, replace the shower door and frame and grout and mastic everything.

He worked on it yesterday (Sunday) and will be coming in the evenings because he's fully booked right into 2017!

Well, A bit happier this morning.

Fred taken to vet's yesterday, and has got reprieve. He has water around his enlarged heart, coughing made him collapse, so now he is on water tablets and tablets to help his heart. She said he was a good weight which will help him, and he should stabilise.

Looks like I have my chum for a while longer.:thumbsup:

I thought so too @Fern4 his fur is in lovely condition. Mind he doesn't have the struggle some foxes have to survive, he's fed like one of our own, lol x it's a charmed life if you can get it! He knocked more pots over again last night! X

Good morning folks, sorry I haven't had a chance to read through the other posts before writing this one, in a bit of a rush just now. Yesterday was a bit of a strange one, I has set aside some gardening time, but it never happened, never mind though, because Phil decided, with no warning, that he was going to try and get up (he has been out of bed once since September 2014) There was a lot of swearing and pulling and pushing, but not only did we get him up, we managed to get him out in the street playing with the remote control truck he sat in bed and built!

                image.jpg

Also Baldrick was finally forced into the bath, after he decide this was a fabulous thing to do on the mega walk yesterday.

                image.jpg

And so another week begins in Chateau Chaos. I wish you all a good one and will touch base with the posts I have missed later in the day, Happy Monday GC x x x

                  Morning all

Dull and cloudy here, but quite mild

Glad the bathroom wasn't as bad as you feared Shiney. Hope Mrs S gets something to help her a the docs

Brilliant news about Fred, lilianna, so pleased for you all :doggieshmooze:

Hope the rain keeps off till your Mum gets home Loli

Still no sign of my greenhouse delivery. They keep promising a date, then nothing turns up, then get another date and another no show. Getting thoroughly fed up with it now

:yay: for Phil getting up and outside Lynda. There'll be other days in the garden but I should imagine days like that are precious for you and Pete. :heehee: at Baldrick, looks like he was enjoying himself though

                  Have a great day everyone

I would, but trying to get a refund from a French company is nigh impossible. They don't get the concept.
