Good morning @Sheal I have had 9 hours this month, overlaid one morning due to late night flying,so I will take 1 hour of August's sleep allowance

Aloha everyone,

I've been very busy since 3.30 this morning. It was going to be a nice steady day but hasn't worked out like that so far

I even had to reprimand the staff at the doctors' surgery but all sorted now.

I've already reprimanded Sarafi for not doing his duty. I caught him at 4.30 this morning being lazy about his duties. Instead of chasing off the rabbit in the middle of the lawn he just started strolling towards it. Not in any way trying to stalk it! He strolled straight towards it and when it ran away he didn't even let his cat instincts take over. He gave not the slightest twitch of a muscle and then just sat down.

Students today so I've got to start the cooking soon.

Unfortunately I wasn't at home when Woo was flying around as I had to take Mrs Shiney to the Walk In Centre (WIC). She's been rather poorly the last few days starting with and eye infection (Red Eye) which then spread to the other eye (my reference to the doctor's surgery above). Then she has developed an extremely painful throat but I couldn't see any soreness. Being Saturday, our surgery was closed from lunchtime so I phoned 111 and got through to the WIC. They were mobbed with casualties and were triaging them and sending some to Casualty (the WIC is now run by the hospital) and asked her to wait until they phoned for her to come in - which ended up being late last night.

It's frustrating waiting at home for the phone call but I suppose it's better than sitting amongst all the casualties. At the moment they can't work out what is wrong, no inflammation and no ulcers, but have given her tablets and an anaesthetic throat spray. She has managed to get some sleep and is sleeping now.

I think she will perk up today as she has a friend coming this afternoon (a social visit) who was at medical college with her. So it will be a social get together but he is also the one medical person she trusts the most.

This is one of the times that we miss Oscar, the cat, the most. He never came into the house unless Mrs Shiney was ill and needed comforting. Then he was happy to sit with her as long as he was needed. If she had a bad throat he would lay across her throat or hug her around the neck.




I've been busy, as usual, during the night dealing with a lot of international emails and sending out reports and agendas for meetings. I've still got a lot of catching up to do because of our holiday.

It's a lovely sunny day and I shall need to get out in the garden and do 'things'. I'm having to do the watering as Mrs Shiney isn't up to it (she doesn't really trust me to do it properly ) and it takes about an hour to do the harvesting. I haven't been able to catch up yet on all the mowing but have got the main lawns done.

Fortunately I've never played any on line games and only have a steam mobile phone.

I've just been for a wander round the garden by torchlight . The early morning (or late night - whichever you prefer ) smell of fresh plants has managed to overpower the smell of the muck spreading that the farmer has been doing. He has spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday spreading the muck so I hope he's going to plough it in soon. In the old days they didn't bother ploughing in but they usually do it within 48 hours nowadays - depending on what muck they are spreading and how strong the smell is.
