      Good day everyone
I missed coming to this thread yesterday as I could only access the forum with my tablet in the morning and I really do not like trying to type on that thing. I think the touch sensor is slightly off and I end up spending 3 minutes editing for every 2 minutes of typing  So, I gave things a bit of a miss until much later.

@wiseowl I am sorry to hear about your appliance letting you down. I go into panic stations if the freezer ice cube makers hesitate so I can't imagine having the hassle of the whole unit dying

We are expecting a warm and very sunny day. I have wage earning work that I plan to complete by 10 a.m. my time, and then I shall be getting things prepared for cooking in the sunoven. A couple of noodle casseroles to be baked by the sun and then some hard cooked eggs for a potato salad I plan to make tomorrow.

Got lots of puttering to do outside as well.

I shall try to have a safe day and hope everyone here does too :)

                Aloha everyone,

It got a little bit too hot yesterday and the fuschias in our hanging baskets have sadly met their end . We were both out most of the day and watered the baskets before going out, but it wasn't good enough when the temperature topped 95F/35C.

                P1300332.JPG

Mrs Shiney watered them when she got home and I've watered them twice already this morning. Each basket has one, central, fuschia and at the moment it looks as though all but one isn't going to recover.

On the up side, Mrs Shiney entered 22 categories in the horticultural show and won, in Olympic terms, five gold, nine silver and five bronze. :yay:

Our utility road digging saga continues. :doh:In brief (am I ever brief? :heehee:), the workmen are still managing to do the classic hole digging mistakes and have been doing so for the last couple of weeks. The electric men eventually got their mains power fixed after the water leak got into the works through the crack that the water board caused four years ago when 'fixing' the water leak, but only after digging in the wrong place and going through the gas main, then cutting off everyone's electric (cutting through the cables) finding it wasn't the right place, digging where I told them I suspected the problem was (by the water leak), cutting off the electric (again) and fixing it and then having two different lots of workmen (hole fillers and tarmackers) to fill the holes and make good. Then, on Monday, the water people dug up the road to fix the leak and cut through our electric cable. Electric now fixed and waiting for the water men to find the water leak (still digging) without going through our gas pipes :fingers crossed:.

The only advantage we get is that we can get out of our driveway easier. We're in the middle of the roadworks with traffic lights about 100ft either side of us. As we can't see the lights because of all the utility vehicles (usually between three and eight of them) one of the men has to go into the road and stop the traffic for us to get out. :blue thumb: Although it doesn't please the commuters rushing to the station. :heehee:

The forecast is another stinking hot day today. Sprinkler is on one section of the veg plot with one of the ShineyFrames. I was out there early this morning picking 7lb of beans from that frame for someone who is coming to pick them up at 9 a.m. I'll pick from the other frame before moving the sprinkler to it.

I'm out for a business lunch today and Mrs Shiney is out for a dinner tonight. So no cooking today. :dbgrtmb: We went to the Chinese last night as we had no power or light and couldn't be sure they weren't going to cut the gas and/or water off as well.

Keep well and have a great day

                Aloha!

Sorry, been a bit busy working away, and then coming back to get ready for the show tomorrow.

Been working on a lovely little Bothy in Somerset.

Only patch repairs but did the best we could for the budget.

                          Aloha everyone,

We're getting a bit later in the year and it's too dark for me to get out there and do some early gardening. 5.15 and too dark

Possible rain forecast for today but I won't hold my breathe. Neither will I do so waiting for the water board to come and find the leak. The electricity men finished, Tuesday evening, repairing where the water men had broken our cable. No sign of the water men so I phoned their emergency line to find out what is happening. Apparently, when the men left after breaking our cable they signed the job off! So now the emergency people have had to reschedule a new team to carry on. So now we have a hole four foot long and, at a guess, three foot deep filled to the brim with water and they still have no idea where the leaky pipe is. Let's see whether they can search for the leak without cutting through moe electric cables or gas mains.

                          It's still 70F out there.

Keep well and have a great day

                          Aloha!
