    I wouldn't bother! :dunno: :heehee:

We're fortunate, we don't have to wait in for things. Our postman, and delivery men, know where to put the things in a safe place and out of the weather. The postman also takes our outgoing mail for us if we leave it sticking out of the letter box. :dbgrtmb:

@shiney our postman doesn't take our outgoing mail but he does seem capable of tossing our deliveries from the end of the driveway up onto our porch. The landing on the concrete softens the contents for us....

I have a long to do list for today as electric is so much less expensive to use on the weekend. Running the central vacuum system and oven are things that wait until then. Also, I need to run the compressor for a little while today too as there is a valance that needs the velcro replacing and I need to blow the dust out of all the keyboards and other dust catchers. Just waiting for other half to wake up so I can get started..;)

Hope you are all having a lovely start to your weekend.

@Zigs sorry to hear you are being bombarded again. I guess you will have your summer project laid out for you. As someone here mentioned a while back, perhaps a moat would be in order...

I tried to get to you @wiseowl but the customs officers at the QEII bridge wouldn't let me through. :nonofinger:  They said they have a rule about migrants from the North but I think it was because they were scared of my Lycra clad body! :dunno:

                      Aloha everyone,

The quiz went very well. My co-quizmaster and myself were congratulated on the interesting, but not too difficult questions with the winners getting 87% correct, the lowest score being over 60% and the average about 75%.

Setting questions that are not going to bore everyone because they are too difficult is not easy. That's because when, as quizmaster, you know the answer, it seems easy.

My regular team won the quiz by a clear margin. They also came first in the table quiz but, according to the rules, aren't able to win more than one prize.

One of the rounds was a bit different to normal (a few of them were) and it was 'Who lives at these fictitious addresses'? An answer that almost every team got was for the question "Who lives at:- The bottom of the postbox, outside 221b Baker St, London?" :heehee:

We have friends coming for lunch today. They had done part of the holiday we went on (at a different time) but couldn't complete it because she fell down a road drain and broke her ankle! They had been on a trip and were returning in the evening when they came across a traffic jam because of a party in the street celebrating a religious festival. The guide asked everyone whether they minded walking the last 20 minutes back to the hotel as the bus would take at least two hours. There was no proper street lighting and she got jostled by the crowd of partying people and couldn't/didn't see the drains and the guide hadn't warned the people about them.

                      P1270024.JPG

They want to see the photos of the part of the holiday that they missed.

Keep well and have a great day

                      Aloha!

Good morning @shiney I am quietly sitting here watching the A to Z of gardening preparing the brussels and although its very therapeutic ,peeling and cutting these ridiculous little crosses in each tiny Brussels:heehee: a question for all my friends at GC, is it really necessary and imperative that this is done ,I have always prepared Brussels this way since the 1950's,enjoy your day:smile:

                          Good Morning everyone,

Yes WOO, I always cross my brussels too, just how I was taught I guess by my mother who was a professional cook. By the way I am a Monkey having been born in the year of the Monkey 1945. No wonder I love that programme on the box called Monkey World.

Have a good day everyone, stay out of the wind, keep warm and dry and above all safe and well. God bless. :wub2:

@wiseowl the answer is 'yes' and 'no'. :snork:

The cut into the base of a Brussel sprout is to enable the hot water to penetrate it easier. The leafy part cooks much quicker than the stem does because of the different densities of the veg.

So cutting the cross in the base gets a more evenly cooked sprout. If you don't mind two different textures then don't bother.

It's a similar thing with broccoli. The stem of the florette is much denser than the 'flower'. so they cook at different rates. You can overcome this quite easily but it means a bit of work. You peel the outer coating of the stem (carefully) and it then cooks more easily. :blue thumb:
