Morning all. Hope everyone is well and full of spring bounce.

I'm starting a long Easter weekend today, got the next six days off. :) There's plenty to do in the garden though, as long as the weather holds. :fingers crossed: :th scifD36:

    Have a good day everyone.

        Good morning All,

Dull & overcast here, I'm praying for a dry day tomorrow, :fingers crossed:.

I waited for the postman to arrive this morning, I'd ordered some live mealworms for the hens & blackbids, they were all happy with their breakfast treat! Hilda tried to snatch the bag out of my hand! She loves mealworms! :chicken:

I can't wait for tomorrow :hapydancsmil:no work :hapydancsmil:, gardening & baking for me :hapydancsmil:

        Enjoy your day everyone :hapfeet:

          Good day everyone
We've have a thick layer of pea sized hail coating everything outside and it is still pelting down. I guess the children around here will be getting an extra long weekend as school will most likely be cancelled today.

I have some large slipcover jobs to start so will be making about a hundred yards of cord to start. It's mindless work (cut bias strip and again, then sew and again) so I can think about where I'm going to place my containers when spring comes and have other fun metal exercises.

Have a safe day everyone. :)

            Good afternoon WW'ers

You've only just gone back to work! :heehee: Still, it's a good way of breaking you back in gently and less likely to aggravate your hand.

Mealworms are the crack cocaine for hens :heehee: One of mine has decided to go broody ... but she can hear a mealworm from a mile away (ok, so maybe not a whole mile :heehee: )

The results are worth it though. My "mindless" job for today is unravelling a length of cord which the seller had "wrapped" in the strangest way - one pull and it all turned to knots! :gaah:

Sowed some Canterbury Bells today, I really love those so I've got fingers and toes crossed that they'll work and will reward me with glorious blooms next year :fingers crossed:

Had a very surreal experience with #1 son yesterday. He called me while he was walking to the High Street, just checking in to begin with, then continued chatting while he went into the supermarket and then ... gave me run down of what was in the reduced cabinet so I could advise him on what to utilise for his dinner, how to cook it and what to serve it with! So, a "virtual" shopping trip together :roflol: I thanked him for the outing as we ended the call and he sounded quite  :heehee:

            Miles of smiles xxMxx

@wiseowl I also like Coleridge's works. Coleridge's son, Hartley, was inspired by Wordsworth and spent quite some time with him. Hartley lived at Nab Cottage, below, with Thomas de Quincey which was half way between Wordsworth's two houses (Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount - two miles apart) where Wordsworth spent most of his adult life.

Hartley wrote a poem about Wordsworth and the last two lines were:-

"Of Nature's inner shrine thou art the priest,
Where most she works when we perceive her least."

Thank you @shiney cracking photos and thank you for sharing them with us,I have all of Dorothy Wordsworth journals and diaries and usually have one with me on my walks:smile:

In 1794, Dorothy left her relatives, 'in the manner of an elopement', as Wilson puts it, to live with her brother. They borrowed a lodge in Dorset - where Coleridge bounded across the gate and stream behind the house, into their lives.

Friendship with Coleridge was an exhausting affair. His enthusiasm was exhilarating, and animation transformed his 'plain', thick-lipped face; but talking was to him as much of an addiction as opium would become.

                      Aloha everyone,

It is a little damp outside but the sun is shining brightly.

I had to rush outside at 5.45 this morning to chase a rabbit that was taking too much interest in the greenhouse. He was moving along the glass and stopping every foot or so and standing up and peering in. I got out there just as he was about to get to the open door. We leave the door open about 8" so that Sarafi can get to his sleeping shelf.

I'll have to discuss with Mrs Shiney what we can do about it. I suppose the practical thing to do, apart from keeping the door closed, would be to keep the door fully open but stretch some chicken wire across the entrance. I'm not quite sure how high it would have to be to allow Sarafi to get in but to deter the rabbit.

The tree man came back yesterday to move all the unburned wood into the centre of the fire and to get it going again. Once he had got it all in the middle he used his leaf blower as a bellows to get it restarted from the smouldering remains. Of course, S**s Law said it would start raining just as he was finishing . I haven't checked to see how well it burned.

I got all the mowing finished in the morning and cut another 150ft of edges - and got told off by Mrs Shiney! I've now had strict rules laid down :th scifD36: - no more than half an hour's work without a proper rest. :nonofinger:

I may call into Wickes and get some more compost as they have a 15% off sale this holiday weekend - even off current special offers. :blue thumb:

Keep well and have a great day

                      Aloha!

Good Morning everyone and a Very Happy Easter to All.
WOO you must be the wrong side of the Thames then as here is it sunshine and blue skies. I hope the ground has dried out as yesterday it was so wet I had to resort to my crutches rather than my walker because of the mud. Oh well will discover in a minute when I take Amber out for her walk. She has finished her breakfast so I guess she is ready to go.

Have a good day all, stay warm and dry and above all and importantly stay SAFE and well.
                        God bless.:wub2:

                            Good morning GC WW'ers

After the rain through the night, it is now sunshine :phew:

@shiney - thank you for the tip re: Wickes compost, I do need a few bags for my pots  And Mrs S is quite right, small and often will still do the trick

@moyra - hope it isn't too muddy out there for you and Amber today. Do you have to wash Amber down after walk when its muddy? At least I'm lucky that, in the main, Ozzy just needs a brush off, except his legs, because his coat is quite good at repelling water and mud.

@BeeHappy - Easter Wishes back at you.

Mr "M" is working today, but I'm hoping we'll get that compost offer before he goes off so I can get on with planting up some pots. I've got some yellow plastic pots in the garden (inherited from here) which I think would look lovely planted with sunflower "Little Leo". Need to replant the strawberries plants I rescued from vine weevil grubs and I want to move a euonymus from a garden bed and into a pot in the shadier part of our garden to bring a bit of "life" to that spot.

Easter wishes for all who celebrate it and Bank Holiday wishes for those who do not.
Either way, enjoy the long weekend :dbgrtmb: Miles of smiles xxMxx

@"M" The bags of compost are something like £4.76 each (can't be sure) or 4 for £15. The offer says that it's on top of any current discounts.
