Happy December folks

Not quite so cold this morning. Only went down to -2 last night and hovering around freezing now.

We have a busy day today. There's a big Christmas charity bazaar at the golf club (I don't play golf) four villages away. It's in aid of Grove Cottage, the charity we support, and Mrs Shiney has a craft stall there. I'm going to help her and we need both cars to carry all the gear . I've loaded a 6ft and 3ft table into the boot of my car and then it will take quite some time to load all the gear as it's mainly glass.

So we're off after breakfast and it doesn't finish until 8 p.m. That wouldn't be too much of a problem but I have to be at a county league bridge match at 7.30 . I don't think that the bazaar will allow us to pack up early but I'll have to sneak a few boxes out early, let Mrs Shiney pack all the other boxes into her car later and then I'll have to go back tomorrow for the tables.

I shan't get my dinner until midnight!

Aloha everyone,

Things didn't turn out quite as expected yesterday. The bazaar was not as much a success for us as we would have hoped and Mrs Shiney sent me home at 2 p.m. as both of us being there was unnecessary. On the up side, our table wasn't needed as someone didn't turn up so we used the table allocated to them and I was able to take it away with me. So Mrs Shiney was able to get everything in her car and another stall holder was able to assist her with all the carrying.

So I had no rush to get to the bridge match which turned out to be one of the friendliest matches we had played. One of their players had picked up each of them and then come to us and she had been on the road for two hours . Part of this was because her satnav brought her a silly way. Always work out your route on a map even when using satnav

Today has become much busier. Someone is coming this morning to do some repair work, for which I need to be here, and I need to go into town to return library books (12 of them are becoming overdue if I don't and two are not renewable as there are requests for them). I was going to do that this afternoon but I've received an urgent request to help run a charity bridge drive this afternoon as one of the organisers has fallen ill. I shall get home from that just in time to go to the bridge club this evening!

Aloha everyone,

Well, the bridge drive was very busy and raised over £800 for the local hospice. I helped, and played, and won first prize . It was a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates. We don't drink and I don't keep chocolates in the house as Mrs Shiney is not allowed them (not my rules but the docs ). So they'll be given away as presents.

@Zigs When you say internet crashed, was it the internet or the computer? I get confused very easily

Frosty out but sunny. So should be a nice day.

Busy with cooking for students so had to go out shopping early as we had run out of carrots. I was going to drive into the village but the car was so badly frosted over that I walked there and back. That's my 2 mile walk for the month I got to the shop at 7.15 a.m. and they were very busy

Just got to make a Thai veggie curry so no problems. Apple crumble already made.
