        Aloha everyone,

A damp morning but supposed to brighten up.

I'm just looking out of my office window and can see that the cobaea plant in view has got a load of new flowers :blue thumb:. It's running across the catenary cable from the house to the greenhouse.

Lots of admin to do :phew:

I made a fairly large Carbonnade yesterday using a can of Guinness that was on sale for 10p because it was badly dented. Apart from the beef and onions I added carrots, celery, toms of course, herbs, garlic, a chilli :heehee: and towards the end of the three hours in the oven I added some King Edward potatoes It will last me a few days but tastes brilliant. Total cost (apart from the gas) £3.50.

        Keep well

        Aloha!

Morning @Flumpy ....exciting times for you both!!!:)

Do you mean us down sizing or selling my parent's place?

Parents place sold quite quickly , it's just all the legal bits that need finalising, probate should be completed next month so the end is in sight.:dbgrtmb:

We've been thinking about moving for years, especially as the last of our tribe move out over 13 years ago.....but will we..:dunno: ,I doubt it ...too much blood ,sweat and tears have gone into renovating it. There will come a time obviously when it will become out of the question to stay put ,but until then.....

            Good morning everyone,
I get tired thinking of the logistics of moving! @Flumpy you'll probably be the most organized householder to move this year. Sounds like it will be a smooth move :) @Upsydaisy I totally understand wanting to stay put as I love the renovations done here too. Besides- the kids told me that since I've been such a good mum, that when the time comes, they will put me in a nice care home :heehee: - they'll need the money from the house to do that at today's rates!

@shiney you've reminded me to look up recipes to use up cans of Guinness. I have a 1/2 dozen down in the cellar that will never get drunk because the fellow that I stocked it for passed on. That stuff was expensive because, of course, it has to be shipped a long way to get to our beers stores.

I have a fairly easy day. I'm opening up the jars of grapefruit marmalade and throwing them out. The jam did not thicken even after the second try. I'll start over again another day.

I didn't get to that nursery yesterday so hopefully today. I have adjustments to make to the cold frame covers too.

Sam is going to be making some masks with the new fabric we picked up last week and using a template we made from a mask she has and that fits well. She will probably have some fun using the sewing machine and serger that I have set up just for her use. These masks are a really good little project for beginners :blue thumb:

Have a lovely day all and please play safe :spinning:

                Good evening,
It's been another busy day and I'm pooped. Tomorrow I've got to be out of the house shortly after 7 a.m.! I'm up at that time but usually only one eye open and a cuppa is my hand

So if I misss parade again, please know that I'm here if only in spirit.

Stay safe and see you soon!

                  Aloha everyone,

Car going in for service but it won't go there on its own :dunno:. So I shall take it there and Mrs Shiney will have to pick me up. It's only two miles and I would walk back but it's a fairly busy road with no footpath.

It hasn't done many miles since the last service so they shall give it an interim service unless they find something wrong. It shouldn't be the case as it has only done 13k miles. With the little driving I do nowadays my mower is likely to do more miles!

                  Keep well

                  Aloha!

                    Good day
It is getting much lighter now and there is a bit of blue showing up there to my left. We had lots of rain over the past few days. Now why wasn't that happening very much in July and August?

Going to have another busy day and so far quite satisfying. It is "everything" day. Rubbish, recycle, garden waste, bulk items collection day so I've hauled the lot to the kerb. Nice to be rid of it all as it was one of those weeks where everything that had to go in the bins was large. A good clean out :)

And I have lots of paperwork to attend to. And laundry to run through whilst I attend to that.

Have a lovely day all and please play safely :)

                      Hi Lori and [IMG]

Cold ,grey as wet here today. I've spent the whole morning on the phone sorting out hospital appointments for my brother.

Hubs is serving dinner now then I'll spent the afternoon planning next year's garden. I bought a new academic diary ( as I always do) this week as they start from Sept which is perfect for logging autumn/winter sowings and cuttings. Perfect task for a wet and dismal day!!

What a great idea @Upsydaisy ! I use one of those little spiral bound calendars but they are really small and difficult to cram everything in.

I made a drawing of the back yard yesterday to try to help me plan my plant relocating visualization before I actually put shovel to ground. I have to get the moves done soon as it is quickly getting colder here. :)

Upsydaisy sorry I’m late replying, yes I was asking about both houses really, sounds like you need to stay put at your house until your all ready, there’s no rush, we are on our last solicitor search now, but the people who are buying our house some how have got four weeks behind :thud:, really want to be in before Xmas :dbgrtmb:

                            Aloha everyone,

Car service went well and it was declared 'in pristine condition'. Certainly should be as it doesn't go anywhere. I've only put petrol in it twice since February and that should last me until November.

I don't do any garden planning at all. The beds get weeded, sometimes, and the plants get cut back/pruned - if we get around to them. I walk round for my, approximately, twice weekly chat with them and thank them for being good.

Friends for dinner today. It's a bit awkward as he's in a wheelchair and getting a bit of dementia. He shall need to use his walking frame to get up the two small steps to the summerhouse, we shall wipe the wheels of the chair (expecting very heavy rain) and put a dust sheet over the carpet. We do all our entertaining in the summerhouse and it will be better for him anyway as there is a toilet only 5ft away from where he will be sitting. Getting him to the toilet if we were in the house is a long walk. She needs a bit of respite and she's really looking forward to it. A lot of their friends can't cope with him, especially as the toilet is upstairs.

Sarafi has been doing his 'I'm a poor abandoned cat out in the rain' act. :rolleyespink: It didn't work :heehee:

                            Aloha!

                                Good day
I've got a lot to do today. 4 double wide 9 foot long drapery panels with heavy fabric to get done by Monday plus all my usual chores.

I did get the marmalade reprocessed yesterday and it thickened up some :) And I made my cranberry sauces for Thanksgiving and Christmas. For here and as little gifts. One batch just plain cranberry, one batch with some hot peppers added and the last with super hot peppers added. Got lots of friends who like things a bit spicy. And the canner is going back down to the cellar :phew:

The physio guy will be coming by this morning to help Sam with her recovery. He's not here long.

And I want to try to get an hour at the end of the day to do a bit of sorting out in the garden. Probably wishful thinking!

Take care all and play safe please :)
