    Good day
@moyra I'm glad to see you're up and about. @shiney everyone I know is thankful I don't play bridge as I can't play very well as I don't seem to have a competitive bone in my body when it comes to games. Some friends insisted I play with them once and after I had kept humming and singing, they never bothered me again.:rolleyespink:( and I have a terrible singing voice:yikes:)

It seems a bit cloudy out there but not forecast to be too cold today. It is still fairly dark as yet so I'm guessing it's going to be a nice day as they aren't pink edged clouds.

Got another busy day. I've got to keep working at trying to get these stupid court documents filed. They've changed the goal posts again. Now one has to get a government issued I.D. to submit documents through a special portal. And they've limited the size of the PDF you can submit. Has anyone ever seen a legal court filing that was brief? Arghhhh!! So now I have to break down the documents and feed them in a series. And I have to go back to the library to use their imaging equipment to do it. I went yesterday but... they weren't open- new hours. Arghh! Every which way I turn, another barrier is thrust up. Still got my chin out and will keep at it until it's done!

Sam is taking it easy. She is keeping moving but I told her no more rushing and pushing herself as when she does that, it throws her back considerably.

I need to do some more baking today as we are out of lunch supplies. And I best get some more laundry done as I don't want mounds of it to do on this holiday weekend.

Have a lovely day and and do please play safe :)

      Aloha everyone,

@CanadianLori I hope Sam is managing to combine taking things easy with being able to take an interest and doing something she enjoys. Re bridge: I'm not really competitive but I love the mental challenge of the game and am fortunate to have the sort of mind that suits it. Playing the game is the enjoyment and I never mind losing as long I have done as best as I can - but winning is even more fun :heehee:

As Grantland Rice said:- “It's not whether you won or lost, it's how you played the game.” He didn't say it about bridge but it's a good philosophy. :blue thumb:

      Keep well

      Aloha!

@shiney thank you (and everyone else) for asking after Sam. She is currently trying her hand at knitting. She'll hopefully have a cozy muffler when she is done with her current skeins. :)

And when her bones aren't sore she loves tending the wood oven and baking dirt. I had to laugh as the other day she was helpful and washed our face masks and dried them outside. Mine smelled like I'd been attending a bonfire :roflol: I do like that smell :)

Hi @Guy Greening It's fairly simple. Go to "Forums" at the top left of the screen, go to one of the sections that carries the sort of topic you wish to talk about - e.g. 'General Gardening Discussions'. Then, at the top right you will see a blue box that says 'Post New Thread'. click on that, type in the title of the thread where it asks for it and then type what you want to say in the box below. Be careful when typing the title as once you have posted your thread you can't change the title. You can always edit the text in your message but not the title.

          good luck :dbgrtmb:

              Good day
It's going to be a sunny day. I've got lots to keep me busy and it will be nice not having to dodge rain drops to do it. There is a weird weather front coming through and tonight's low will be 68f . That is just plain odd! But then the cooler weather will come back tomorrow night.

I've got all but one place left to shop to be ready for Thanksgiving. Costco, to get the pies. I've made pies in the past but theirs are excellent and cheaper to buy than getting the ingredients and doing the work.

And I visit my wine guy today. We usually stand 6 feet apart and gab for about 1/2 an hour. always a pleasant trip.

I've waded through all the documentation re: online filing of motions , and have submitted the ones I think are needed and now it's just a matter of :fingers crossed:

I hope everyone has as lovely a day as I plan to have and do please play safe :)

                      Good day
It is another sunny morning but we have been promised a cloudy wet afternoon so I have got the last set of bed sheets in the washer and will get them on the line to dry in a few minutes. Love the smell of sheets dried by fresh air.

I'm really going to have a busy but relaxing day. Lots to do but none of it stressful. Putter inside. Putter outside. Very nice feeling to not have to rush about.

I hope everyone else has a good day and do please play safe.

Oh, and @Flumpy I do hope those drops work quickly. :blue thumb: And yes, I look forward to hearing more about the new house. Exciting!

                        Aloha everyone,

Yesterday was a busy day but it was full of all little things. I had lots of phone calls in the morning and the batteries in the cordless phone went flat during one conversation! So I had to call them back on the extension cordless (one at either end of the house). They self charge but I had the same happen during a long conversation in the afternoon. I also have some more batteries on permanent charge to replace them quickly. If I know I'm going to have a long conversation I usually plug in an old-fashioned desk top phone (also kept for when there's a power cut) as it doesn't need batteries.

I did the usual daily harvesting but that has now reduced to the last 2lb of runners and what may be the last courgette and just leaves loads of apples that should keep going all through this month.

Then it was cooking time. :blue thumb: The day before, I had marinated a lot of chicken wings in herbs and spices ready for roasting in the oven last night. They were to be accompanied by a lightly spiced rice. I started by frying onion after dropping some cloves, broken cinnamon sticks and then some torn bay leaves into the hot oil for a few seconds. Then added some finely chopped tomatoes from the greenhouse, a touch of home made curry powder and then the Basmati rice. Then added hot water, a chicken stock cube and some turmeric. When it was cooked and nice and light and fluffy I dressed the top with just a light touch of sumac and finely chopped coriander leaves (don't like too much of either but Mrs Shiney does). It sounds complicated but is, literally, just a few minutes work.

The plate of food looked good with the nicely cooked spiced chicken, the orange coloured dressed rice and some lovely bright green sliced runner beans.

Today we're off to my sister, just down the road a couple of miles, for lunch. Before that I have some cheques to write to some of the charities we support.

                        Keep safe

                        Aloha!

                              Good day
A cloudy cool day here but no matter as I have lots to do inside. I am having my Thanksgiving dinner tonight rather than tomorrow as it gives everyone a day after the feast to laze about before going back to work or whatever.

And this morning, as usual, my beloved Corrie is on for 3 hours- 6 episodes. I sure hope Jeff gets his this week!

Take care and have a lovely day all. Play safe!
