    Good day
I am a bit late here as I was cleaning the main floor and baking whilst listening to my beloved Corrie. I also talked to Sam. She is prepared to be in the hospital for a long stretch but is keeping a stiff upper and knows she is going the right direction. Again.

@Victoria just slinging yourself in and out of the car is an awesome accomplishment!

It is a cold, dull, rainy day and at least there is one good thing about it. The last of the leaves are being blown off the trees around here so once things dry out a bit, I can do a final rake and be done with it for another year. ;)

Have a lovely evening everyone :)

          Aloha everyone,

All our Zooms went well yesterday. :blue thumb: Brother-in-law in Brazil, isn't - he's isolating in Uruguay :rolleyespink:

He has an apartment there for when he retires and has to renew his residency and property rights each year. It's compulsory to isolate for two weeks (they have Covid under control with only 43 total deaths) so he's getting as much paperwork done as possible whilst staying in a hotel in the capital. They have special controls whilst isolating and he's very comfortable in the hotel under the hotel's Covid restrictions. He has just had his last day test and he is negative so can now go to sign everything.

It's a nice country to retire to. Climate is good (much better than Brazil as it doesn't have an extremes of temperature) and very little crime. Taxes are fairly high (but no income tax if you're retired :)) although property tax and VAT are high. He also has to live there two months in the year to retain citizenship. To live there you really need to speak the language as most of the locals don't speak English. We've toured the country and the pace of life is slow, friendly and peaceful. Food is quite expensive compared to other S. American countries, but not too bad, and the meat and veg are superb. No, I don't work for their tourist board :heehee:

I didn't get all the blackberries cut back yesterday as the bending over gets too much for me. So I shall finish it today. Bridge this afternoon - but I only play about six or seven times a week :loll:

          Keep well

          Aloha!

              Morning all,

Glad Sam is on the mend again Lori. X

              Shiney...you've sold Uruguay to me...

Upsydaisy...glad you are keeping busy and looking after your brother :)

I've just done a bit of furniture painting (another coat) and got to empty the dishwasher then I'll be out planting bulbs in the front bed that I pulled the cosmos out of.

It very grey and still damp here but gradually drying up.

              Have a lovely day everyone.

                  Good day
@Upsydaisy yes, going with people to the doctor's is a great way to make sure all of the details get remembered. I've gone with lots of people to be the second set of ears and note-taker. Even when Sam was here, when the doctors called, she had me stay on an extension phone to listen and ask questions when needed.

It was a pretty nasty storm last night. The wind sounded like a freight train and the reports are saying they were up to 100 kmh which is unusual for us. Our gusts usually only go to about 70. The last of the leaves were blasted from the trees so when it stops raining a dries a bit, I'll clean those up.

Sam is still holding her own. Visiting hours are either 11-2 or 4-7 and only one visit per day and only one visitor. We've had 3K covid deaths here out of a population of 7 million and active cases are rising again. I'm going to be at the hospital right on time as our province is moving back toward another lock down and I want to be able to see her and hug her before that happens.

Have a lovely day all :coffee:

Hi Lori!:) pleased to hear that Sam is more stable now...brilliant!:dbgrtmb:

Yes I have to attend all my brother 's apps....even telephone ones ,as his memory has been a great cause for concern for a couple of years now and finally last month he was at long last officially diagnosed with Alzheimers...so I am frantically trying to get everything sorted and all relevant officials notified....but with this barrier of Covid hanging around it slows the whole process up quite considerably. I am trying to get in place a good support programme for when Covid restrictions are eased...difficult, as he is very vulnerable due to all the drugs for his RA that have drastically lowered his immunity, resulting in him placed as being at high risk on the shielding list. I am desperately looking for groups/ activities for younger people with Alzheimers as I feel it would be wrong to place him within a group of older/ oaps at this stage.....but very hard to find!!

Hugs are so important aren't they....as I've said before I haven't had a 'son hug' for almost a year now....for one son it's almost 2!!!:cry3::sad::cry3:

@Flumpy that sounds peculiar as it isn't actually cold out! I was working in the garden without a coat. Are you sure the heating is actually working or does it just say 'on' when it isn't? Hope you're warmer today. :grphg:

I got the cutting back of the blackberries finished yesterday and all the pricklies onto the bonfire heap. :blue thumb:

Morning Shiney, yes the radiators where red hot but there is that many drafts in that shop it takes a loooong time to warm up, it was that cold first thing you could see your own breath :heehee: it’s forecast freezing temperatures in the NW later this week.
