I have cousins and a brother and nephews, and I am still in touch with some of B's family too but it isn't the same as an aunt or uncle. I was close to my aunts.

It's good you have a car, at least you can get about.
It's grey here too but very icy.

Hi @Upsydaisy, you posted that before I saw it.

I have cousins (two are a bit older than me) but they are the same generation. I don't hear from most of them and can't say I miss them, but I do miss my aunts and uncles.
Come to think of it my mother has a cousin still alive. She must be in her 90s now. They fell out many years ago so I never hear anything about her.

I'll look out for your pics  xx

        Good day
It is 21f -6c The party is over... I don't know if it is cloudy or clear but I don't really care. I won't be outside playing anyway because the ground is frozen.

I am the last of my generation in my immediate family and the father of my sons is long dead so that makes me the matriarch of my bunch. I have a couple of cousins that I used to be friendly with but I don't know why it happened to them but as they aged, they got meaner and I chose to dump them from my social circle. I am not a masochist!

I need to visit one shop to buy a big bag of confectioner's sugar before I can continue with my cookie doings. It is open at 7 and I'll be at the doorstep when the doors are unlocked. I'm down to only having to decorate the gingerbread cookies shaped like Christmas trees, ball ornaments, men, stars and candy canes. These will take a lot of time and of course more for the icing to dry and harden. The fudges set nicely and the rumballs are ready now too.

I plan to be done with all of the trays by Thursday and then I can relax for the weekend.

        Cheers :coffee:

As promised. The gluten free trays are now in the garage and the ginger bread cookies are sitting in their place. They need 4 more hours drying.
Then onto the trays and out to the garage too!

Good morning all , how are you doing?

Had some very sad news yesterday afternoon from my cousin in Canada , her husband passed away. So sad.
Seeing all Lori's yummy treats reminds me of what my cousin said to me last week that Bill loved Turkey, Fruit Cake and other Christmas nibbles so they were busy preparing things to take into him over the holidays.

It was their Anniversary last week and it would've been his birthday tomorrow.

I feel for her and the family...no Christmas for them.

            :spinning:

                Morning all.

It is greyish, damp and calm this morning with 15c going to 19c and rain and a thunderstorm forecast for this afternoon.

Sorry to hear about your sad news Upsy and at such a time of year.

Nothing going on here, just J meeting Donald for lunch.

                Have a good one everyone.

                  Good day
It is still dark so I can't see if there are clouds on this chilly 24f -3c morning. The guessers say we are in for a snow storm but it will only be 4-5 inches (10-13cm) of snow so nothing big time.

I'm sorry to hear about your relative @Upsydaisy. It sounds like he was quite elderly so I hope he had a good long life.

My cookie trays are all finished and out in the garage. I have some gingerbread cookies left to package in little snack bags for the neighbourhood kids. I left them out overnight to set thoroughly because being in a bag and not simply sitting on a heap of cookies, the icing could be damaged. The ones on the trays would be thoroughly set by now too.

I have more bookmarks to sew. My granddaughter and I had cut several for her to sew and the leftover edge of the fabric was smaller than the 4" square starter cuts needed so I decided not to waste it and make some smaller bookmarks. I'll take some of them to the library for the staff there as they have been very helpful to me.

I see it is the 14th today so tomorrow will be indoor Christmas decorating day. My mother always insisted that we never decorate inside before the 15th because to do so earlier was gauche. Since I was brainwashed as a child, I stick with that rule! :heehee: I'll haul up the bags of decorations today in prep.

                  Cheers :coffee:

                              Good morning everyone.

Another nippy start to our day here. A bit concerned now if certain plants will survive this winter. :fingers crossed:

Thank you @Flumpy, yes I don't think Christmas will be looked forward to in their household anymore. The run up to it was always of celebrations...anniversary first and then his birthday and then finally Christmas + New Year.

                              Keep warm everyone.
