YAWN, YAWN, WAKEY, WAKEY - 2022

A hazy start and it is forecast to be hazy and breezy today but back to normal temps.
Nothing special planned for here so will just go with the flow of the day.

Hi @Upsydaisy, the building work is going to plan, the builder was worried he might not have dug down deep enough for the foundation but the chap from building regulations came here this morning and said it was fine so they can carry on with the work now.

Here's a photo ...



You can see the side path is lower than the floor of the house because we are on a hill.
The rubble is from the conservatory wall.
You can see the old doorway from the conservatory into the kitchen now blocked up.
The wall will be removed to make the kitchen larger, and they will have to put a steel girder there because the bathroom is above it.

All the rubble will go to make a floor for my greenhouse

Bella is oblivious to it all, the only thing she wants to do is sleep in a shady spot under the shrubs

I hope the weather isn't too hot for you, it's glorious here

Sounds like everyone has something or other to keep them busy today, weather permitting. I get so much more done when there's no snow on the ground

It was pretty hot here yesterday and humid too but the house did not heat up too much as I kept the shades down to stop the sun pouring in. It got up to 94f outside and stayed in the low 80's inside. And there is a fresh breeze this morning

I've got lots of puttering to do and a load of laundry is flopping around in the washer and will will be ready to go out on the line shortly. Oh, and yes, Doc Martin episodes this morning! The theme music seems more Mediterranean to me rather than British coastline. Lively tune!

@Michael Hewett I am confused! What was the other works you had done? I thought it was a little conservatory outside your kitchen with a patio. Or is it on the other side of the kitchen?

 

All sounds good Michael and that things are progressing as they should be. Can't wait for the next updates!

Glad that Bella has taken all the upheaval in her stride and remains 'chilled '.

 

Hi @Victoria the other work was a little utility room where there was once a perspex lean-to ...



The conservatory (left of picture) is what they've pulled down now.

The patio doors once opened from the kitchen to the outside but I had a perspex lean-to built over them, which provided a cover for my mother to use the outside toilet after she came to stay here
(she wouldn't use a stair lift !)

You can see the old loo in the photo.
It is now repositioned inside the 'utility room'

The door to the conservatory is just on the left of the photo.

We told the builder yesterday we accept the quote and want the work done asap. We wait with baited breath. In the meantime T'other Half is doing his bit. He has redone the wiring and is now working on the trellis for the facia.

 

Morning everyone.

It was certainly a warm one yesterday that's for sure, it's a degree or two cooler today. Hopefully a tad more manageable . Phew!!

Another 'go with the flow' day here......my favourite kind of day.

It is going to be a nice weekend, not too hot and hopefully with a breeze.

T'other Half will continued with his things on The Baffa and I will occasionally sit and watch and potter.

It is brilliantly sunny and just below 70f which the guessers have said will go up to 74f - room temperature for me!

I'm busy getting the court docs together/copied which my son and I spent the afternoon yesterday, at the court house, getting signed/notarized. She wouldn't let him have his girls for Father's day after all so that lit a fire under me! Today I go (80 miles from here) and serve her the papers advising her to show up in court for a contempt motion on July 14. I hope she doesn't shove me down her front steps as they are concrete.

And when I get back, I'm going to putter around outside

I wouldn't want to do that again any time soon! I waited for about 1/2 and hour for her to come back home. She drove up in front of her house and her windows were down so I said " this is for you Jennifer" held the folder out and she started to roll up the window and speed away. Luckily I only have a bruised arm as I was pretty quick to pull it out. The docs landed on beside her on the front passenger seat so at least now she is served.

Going to have a spritzer or three to stop shaking.
