Morning Michael yes I like the sound of rain too...but just needed some sleep!!

You're a busy bee by the sounds of it. We could do with sprucing things up a bit here...I think you get a bit tired of looking at the same stuff all the time. Hubs on the other hand doesn't see the need for replacement unless is too worn out and not fit for purpose...so I'm fighting a losing battle here!!:roflol:

    Enjoy your lunch and day.

We'll be cool and cute this morning ... although it is warm already and heading for another hot day.

J off to Dentist today then taking his car in to have the starter motor replaced. I said to him I didn't know if his teeth or his car had more problems!!!

      Have a good day all.

The chair is old @Upsydaisy, it came from my grandparents' house. It wobbled so much that nobody could sit on it, and it has been in my attic since the 1980s. I decided at last it was time to get it renovated or throw it away, and because it's rather a nice chair I got it renovated.

              Morning Upsy.

Think she is working on the upper teeth now! I honestly do not know how his teeth have got in this state. He is not a sweet eater. He insists on using an electric toothbrush (well, battery) which I do not like ... but that is personal choice. He insisted in the UK we had a Water Pik too which I did not like. He has always doe what the Dentist said was best. :th scifD36:

His toe/foot problem is Gout. In the old days they used to say it was caused by Port ... now they say beer ... and he does like his beer!

J watered this morning and I did my Nursery then took lots of photos so have been downloading them and may put some up ... but they are all the same thing. :rolleyespink:

Enjoy your day whatever you get up to. Vxx

                Good day
It is 60f 14c and a ceiling of solid cloud. It is not dark clouds so I have no idea whether it will dump more water at some point or not!

I didn't sleep all that much either @Upsydaisy but it was my own fault as I was silly and had a couple of cups of coffee yesterday which is very rare for me and the caffeine kept me hopping!

@Victoria the boats look like they were a lot of fun.

I'll be beginning the work on some roman shades today @Michael Hewett which is a popular choice for people here for all rooms with the exception of formal dining or living rooms.

I noticed a giant difference in the attitude toward smokers between here and there in the "day apart from gardening" thread. Everybody here too wishes no one smoked and many such as you lot over there, do ban it from their properties but I am of the camp that thinks it is an addiction. I stupidly smoked when I was young and vividly remember just how hard it was and how many times it took to quit for good. I feel that smokers are not going to suddenly decide to quit because I won't let them smoke outside my home. I now only know 2 or 3 people who still smoke and I would not be comfortable being, what I feel is mean, to them. It makes sense to me to have ashtrays on hand to corral the remains of the smokes. Of course I situate these guests downwind from me :)

I'd best get to work here.

                Cheers :coffee:

Yes, they were Lori ... but the real fun part was learning how to back them into our carport!!! The turn left if you want it to go right ....:hate-shocked: It was a long drive with a slight curve ... you could get another three cars behind the one in the pic (not my pic but one when the house sold a few years after we were there. I always did the driving and J the skiing.

Oh how nice @Victoria ! I loved skiing when I was a kid but sadly never had an opportunity between when I was 19 and summer before last. I couldn't stop laughing - this was the first test run to see if I could get up again after so many years and then I was on a traditional rope tow. Lots of fun!

Lori by law I had to be a smoke free zone and have notices up to state the fact ....nothing will change now. I do believe however that we have a right to stipulate what is and isn't permitted in our own home.

Oh gosh yes of course smoking is an addiction....but then so are a lot of other things too and I won't give any of our house space up to them either .Am I being mean....to be honest I really don't believe I am.

But each to their own beliefs and rules, all of which I fully respect. :)

Oh heavens @Upsydaisy - no one smokes IN my house. That would be horrifying! I too keep all of my work materials and spaces free of any contaminates. I cannot imagine exposing some of these $150/yard fabrics to any kind of odours or chemicals or hairs or any of that either!

                            What are those ?
                            Do you do upholstery ?

My chair seat will be green, it was a remnant the upholsterer had and he's given it to me cheaper.
Other things in that room are also green so the chair will match, and it looks nicer if things match.

I couldn't pick the seat up today because the upholsterer had to go for a hospital appointment. I'll go tomorrow or Friday.
