Just got back from today's wanderings.

It has turned out a bit grey but still OK temp wise.

A failure as far as seed buying went..hardly anything left on the shelves in Wilkos...very depressing looking in there. They just had Sunflowers, Marigolds and a few veg....nothing inspiring. They also had a few bulbs too but to be honest I must sort out the bulbs that are already buried in our borders and label where they are!! I'm forever digging them up by accident or chopping them in half....by accident!!
So no more bulb buying...just yet!;)

Oh well done with your Cleome seed harvesting Lori. I'm keeping a beady eye on ours too, plenty of pods but just waiting for them to 'ripen' and turn brown.:fingers crossed:

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.:)

      Good morning.

Forecast is perfect for another spot of border tidying and other garden related tasks today.

I don't think we have plans for much else.....but things can, and often do change.:heehee:

      Have a super day everyone.

Another Yellow High Temp Warning today so watering must be done as soon as we get out of the sack.

J has Dentist later this morning. Two upper teeth so he hopes she will do both today.

        That's all folks.

Good morning everyone  I hope you'll all have as good a day as you can ...

I thought you might like to see another chair I've had renovated :-

          127_3604.JPG

          127_3607.JPG

It's very old and belonged to my Grampa's family.

My Grampa had rockers put on the chair and the legs were then shortened but it looked daft with rockers so I took them off. This resulted in the chair being very low.
Then one of the legs came off and I put it in the attic where it has been since the 1980s.

Now I thought it was time for it to see the light of day again and I found a furniture restorer in a near-by town who put extensions on the legs to make them the right length again. He also put the loose leg back on and gave the chair a good polish.

I don't think it looks too bad, it actually looks like I remember it when I was little.
And I must say it is really comfortable to sit in

              Good day
It is 65f and the skies are white with lots of blue gaps which I hope means it will be a good day for driving.

@Michael Hewett that chair looks really nice. Furniture restoration is not for the faint of heart. I restored an old table that the top flips to create a square, then has several leaves to form a dining table. It was something I had bought from a second hand store for large family gatherings and to add to the end of my old dining table. It was a lot of work so I took several breaks when stripping it. On one of those breaks, I came inside and turned on the television only to see the live broadcast of the planes crashing into the twin towers. After that, I went back out to work on the table but it was solemn work. Now it is usually kept closed up as a side table to hold my bread making equipment because I got a new dining table that seats everyone.

@Victoria I keep seeing the news reports of the fires and crossing my fingers that you get a cooling downpour.

@Upsydaisy I too have lots of garden maintenance to do but it won't happen today. Unless I still have lots of excess energy when I get back.

Sam had a nice long visit with us and it is nice to see that the new meds are reversing the damage the old ones caused. Her body had been rejecting the intravenous formula, then started having allergic reactions as well which caused unhealthy weight gain and covered her face in spots. :hate-shocked: Her skin is now clearing and she's lost a fair amount of the weight. It is certainly making her happier to be on the right track. The new meds will be administered by her, by epi pen. I'm taking Emily back home this morning. Her mother lives about an hour west of me which is the right direction to head to go to the states. So after I veer off to her town/home to drop her off, I'll loop back up to the highway and carry on to Niagara Falls NY to pick up my frame it all animal barrier. Then I'll boot is back home.

              Cheers :coffee:

Michael how lovely to have both chair and it's history...amazing to think how many bottoms have sat on it, if only it could speak ..what stories it could tell.

Well I said our plans could change, and they did.
The weather is perfect for walking so we set off on a 4mile circular walk mid morning . Any warmer and it would have been too uncomfortable, at times when the sun clouded over it became very warm and muggy.

Now we have cloudless blue skies and lovely warm sunshine.
An afternoon in the garden.....probably just sitting and reading my current book is the plan now.:):blue thumb:

Good morning ,how are you all today.

Gosh I had fun trying to make a couple of Drs appointments yesterday afternoon!! For a start it seems that you can't book normal routine appointments to see a Dr anymore online.......only screening appointments, maternity and baby checks and blood tests!
I finally got through on the phone and made my 2 appointments with the 2 different Drs, as I had requested.......in 5 and 6 weeks time!!!!:yikes::thud: That was the absolute earliest too.
It was reported on our news a couple of weeks ago that in 5- 10 yrs time a lot of us will have serious illnesses due to the inability to book Drs appointments early enough to get a diagnosis and treatment at the onset of our illnesses.
Utterly ridiculous.....I fully understand it was very difficult during the pandemic as they had to space appointments out so that they didn't have busy, crowded waiting rooms......but what I can't fathom out is what's the excuse now!!:noidea:

It's the same at my sister's surgery too.

Anyway moan of the week over now :heehee:.

Off to see my brother in the next hour then we plan to go into lovely Winchester. Such a joy to wander around, although today we do have an appointment to attend first. We will probably grab something to eat there too to save having to cook later.

                  Have a great day :)

                    That's terrible @Upsydaisy
At my doctor's centre you can't book ahead. They'll only make appointments for that dat alone.
However trying to get a reply from them is almost impossible, and when you eventually do get a reply, all the places are full and you have to try again tomorrow .... only for the same thing to happen again.

Have a lovely time in Winchester  xx

Thanks Michael, we undoubtedly will as it's a truly beautiful day here.:SUNsmile:

It seems that most of the Drs here are only working part time now......probably like all our Dentists they are heading down the private practice route.

I hope that you are having good weather too and that you have an enjoyable day as well. xx:)

Good morning Upsy and Michael. My, it does seem a chore to get a doctor's appointment there, but pleased you were successful Upsy.

Under an Orange Heat Warning through Saturday now so not a lot going on here, except J doing a bit of grocery shopping and stopping off at the DIY. I decided yesterday I want blinds on the kitchen window which faces Southeast and can be like a furnace working at the sink. Never bothered me before in 25 years.

Enjoy your Brother and Winchester Upsy.

                          Good day
It is 68f and quite humid with lots of clouds moving in.

@Upsydaisy- I thought I posted this yesterday but I guess I didn't hit the reply button properly. "It is wonderful to see you continue to talk about long walks - 4 mile circular - etc. I believe at this time last year it would have been unimaginable!" And I did mean it that. It makes me smile. :)

@Michael Hewett I do have the luxury of being able to book an appointment with my Dr. through an online system. I can book my blood tests, and many more things online too. Although if I have an immediate problem, I get on the telephone and they usually try to fit me in quickly. That said, at the moment I am having trouble getting the results of my last blood tests online. My doctor will have them of course, but I like to view them so I can be prepared to discuss any issues when I visit him.

@Victoria getting a shade in the window will also help your air conditioning. On very hot sunny days I have all my shades down to stop the sun sending the heat into the house and my air conditioning cycles off for longer periods. It is a bit gloomy if I stay inside but a lot more comfortable.

My trip yesterday included many different "under construction" obstacles so it wasn't the fastest drive. I had no problems going over the border and was back on the Canadian side within 15 minutes. But I am very upset because the box I picked up very clearing states that is the wrong product. It is for a curved garden not the straight that I ordered! So I'll have to see what the people have to say about correcting this situation.

I got good news this morning. My extra health insurance will cover me for a pretty darned good blood pressure machine and I'll get the prescription for it from my doctor on Monday.

I have only a little shopping to do and I may visit the fabric shop to see how far down they've marked the outdoor fabrics. I need to make a new cover for one of the outdoor umbrellas and will need 6 yards to do it. Later I'll maybe lay out a pattern on some fabric I've had for a few years to make myself another top or two.

                          Cheers :coffee:

J decided he wouldn't go to the DIY today as it is not urgent so that is for another day. Instead he went a different direction and went to both an Aldi and Lidl and said they were heaving ... nty surprisingly in a holiday month near lunchtime!

Lori, I looked at the exercise link. It is very good and much like the aerobic exercise I prefer. However, since my mini strokes I am not good bending over nor getting up and down on the floor. I can do the leg kicks on the bed and I can 'touch my shins'. :heehee: Upsy had suggested maybe I try a balance cushion. I had to walk on them with rolls to step over in between which was okay but I had rails each side.

Hope you sort out the parcel mistake, ie, that they send the correct one FOC, but then you have to go back over the border to collect it!

                            Have a good day.

                              Good morning everyone.

Had a nice visit with my poor muddled up brother yesterday and despite everything he was in good spirits.

Winchester was as beautiful as ever. We bought a take out lunch and sat ate it in my favourite park....too nice to be inside or in a crowded pub/ restaurant garden.

Today we have a bit of grocery shopping to do and I'll have a quick flick round with the duster as we have our eldest broodling coming for the weekend.:hapydancsmil:

I hope to get an hour or two in the garden as I need to start collecting seeds and do a bit of deadheading.

Yes thanks Lori this time last year I was recovering from having some bone removed and a Meniscectomy. Still plays up somewhat but I know it pays to keep it moving, most evenings I have to sit with it raised up on a stool with a pillow under to reduce the swelling.:blue thumb:

That about sums up our plans for today, can't believe the week has vanished and it's Friday again...I'm sure time has speeded up a notch or two.

                              Have a fabulous Friday.

                              :spinning:
