Morning all. Pleased you arrived safely in NC @redstar. Our long-time friends of 50 years live in Aberdeen. I guess you can grow Azaleas, Rhodos, Camellias etc there which basically look after themselves.

Our Orange Heat Warning has gone off and just under a Yellow through Friday,

Off to Alvor today as J has an Ultrasound for his shoulder but then a lazy afternoon. Thank goodness for a/c cars (and homes).

    Have a good one everyone.

Good morning @Upsydaisy and @Victoria and @redstar  My I'm posting lots recently lol, I'm usually a man of few words ...
I'll be looking at your photos when I have my morning coffee later on @Upsydaisy, I want to relaxe and enjoy them ...

My nearest Home Bargains is in the town near here, but the one with a cafe is in a village about 5 miles away and I drive there. It's a large store and is situated where the old Co-op was on the outskirts of the village, and they've taken over the cafe and they've made a nice garden centre at the side of it too.
And I must say that unlike most chain stores they look after their plants well. They have rows of them and you can often find something unusual there.
I bought some trellises there a few weeks ago, and they're nice sturdy ones too.

I didn't go anywhere yesterday, I had a 'nothing' sort of day :frown: I didn't feel like doing anything and it became quite boring, so in the afternoon I went to my local town and had a coffee in a nice cafe in the arcade. There were very few people about ...

Chiropodist is coming this p.m. She's a lovely Spanish lady. I can always walk better after she's seen to my feet.

It seems your heat is lessening @Victoria, I hope it will get more comfortable for you soon.

Have a nice day everyone  xx

Morning all. Going shopping today for stuff. Negative part of this place compared to my home up north is that the food store is 6 miles up the street. Walmart and Lowes is about 8 miles. A better hardware store is about 10 miles. and there is no Laundromat for large quilts . I buy coverlets for the beds so they do fit in to the washing machine.
Anyway---Culling---culling is necessary if the herd grows to large stays in one area, food sources is limited, and diseases start. And they are eating every plant around. Have to focus on what they won't eat. They also have bears here, reports of a car hit a cub bear on the road, well, if they trap the bears and move them to a safe place the poor baby would not get killed. And yes, its all the humans fault for invading on their home, this I agree with totally. If you invite an excellent marksmen to cull out the deer then its done as humanly as possible. And this stupid community here, they talk about bears in their back yard, how cute they are they say, but it's ok. Guess, God Forbid one day, a toddler gets hurt by one. Just saying.
Weather finally getting chiller, thank goodness, only 86 today and 60 at night.
We planted a sweet Hydrangea here, its all eaten, we are going to re-pot it and take it home. Yes, those plants mentioned above are on the property right now. Well got to go. Have a good day all.

Do you mean these places are better located in PA, ie, closer to you?

Yes, in my area in PA, they are so much better located. At home in PA----Food shopping 1/2 mile away, also hardware store 1/2 mile away. A decent general shopping center 1/2 mile away.
Today took me 25 mins to get to a hardware store . At home I'd be there and back within 25 mins.
Cooler today thank goodness. Still doing a few more things around here before leaving on Friday.
I am re-decorating some areas about , going to get some new pictures for the site soon. A photographer is coming by next week to update etc. Will post then when done. Ok, take care all. Later.

Good morning, gosh I slept well !!!

Took some painkillers before bed as all the climbing of the day had , much neededly, stretched some muscles that obviously were in great need of it!!

Feeling pleased at what I achieved.

A day at home today I think just doing a few indoor and outdoor tasks. So pleased to have had rain during the night as the garden was in need of watering....we won't have to do that job now. Our forecast predicts a chance of more rain throughout the day but precipitation levels look low so...:noidea:

I hope your weather is getting a little cooler for you Vicky.

Michael I must say that our Home Bargains look after their plants very well too. So often I've come across stores that are selling off their half dead plants at reduced prices.....all of which are bone dry!!!

I can guarantee there'll be no dry plants here today :).

            Enjoy your day everyone.

              Morning all.

No relief for us as now the heatwave continues through Sunday.

Caroline is back from the UK this week so she and Steve are coming over this afternoon. We will visit in The Baffa in the a/c and have chips and dips and drinkey poos.

                Morning Vicky.
Oh no !! I thought it was cooling, albeit very slightly. You should notice a change in the next week or so as there is a weather front due to sweep down from the north ( this week end for us) and it's path shows it having an affect on most of europe :fingers crossed:

Enjoy your day, it will be lovely for you to see some friends.:)

                  Morning!!

Hope you had a great meet up with your friends Vicky.

We were mostly dry yesterday...until we considered going into town to do a bit of grocery shopping in the afternoon then the rain arrived. Typically once we decided against going in and started doing other things...out came the :hotsun:.

Today we're off to see my bother and will probably pick up the few bits of shopping in his nearby town.

Please to report no lasting or painful after effects from our adventures on Wednesday. :blue thumb:

                  Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, alive here. We are heading home today Friday. Not a lot of fun we have had here just work, work, organiing. Have a guest arriving later on Friday, at about 3 PM.
Anyway, we are all high tech here now. On my cell phone, I have control over the heathing and cooling of th house, the locking of the front door, code changes etc. 3 outside cameras have been installed, I can see all that on my cell phone, and it has sound. Hope not to be to noisey, but would love to hear what they say about our place. Anyway. Friday is a 9 hour drive home. lets hope no traffic issues etc. While here got to meet up with all my three neighbors, nice to see them again. Well, agin almost 3Am lets try to get back to sleep again. Later.

                      Morning redstar. Safe return trip.

Are the cameras easy to spot? If not it could cause privacy issues....well depending on the law over your way.
Do you have internal ones as well ??

We have a similar set up too and all can be fully controlled from our phones, so reassuring when away from the house.

                      Sleep well.

A hot weekend ahead but the intense heat of the day may be less as only on a Yellow warning.

J meeting someone at 11am to sell an amp or mixing desk or something, but that's it.

Have a good one every one.
