Monday morning. Labor Day here, means lots of places are closed. Three day weekend off for the working folks who can get off, or bank the holiday for later.
Just continuing my process of leaving tomorrow morning, things to do. Have a good one all.

          Good morning .

Spoke with my eldest sister yesterday and she informed me that her daughter and son in-law have tested positive for Covid and that her grandson was burning up on Sunday with a high temp. They are saying cases are on the rise again and that there is a new variant that seems to have many mutations that WHO are monitoring closely.
COVID surveillance to restart ahead of winter amid new variant concerns

Well today is the day of having no electricity all day so we're off out soon.

We decided to stay close by rather than travel further afield in this heat, so will probably just go into Southampton and have a stroll along the waterfront. I had initially planned to walk the Titanic Trail but thought a cooler day would be better , although the city is suppose to be a couple of degrees cooler being on the coast than here at home today.
          We'll have a wander through a couple of the city's park's too I expect.

Yesterday I sorted out my wool stash in readiness for some Winter projects so I will have a look around to see if I can find more to add to it. I also sorted out all my knitting needles too. Along with my own I also ' inherited ' all my Nan's needles and her very handy roll up case. I have the complete set of all needle sizes....many time over !!! :heehee:

Have a lovely day.......and keep safe!!

Safe journey @redstar, have a lovely time

Enjoy your day out @Upsydaisy, we have to make the most of the warm weather before autumn sets in.
I had all my mother's knitting needles, and then all Beryl's. I gave them away.

Man coming to paint my kitchen walls and ceiling today. I'll be spending it in the garden

Morning Michael, a good day for indoor painting , it will soon dry that's for sure.

Today's trip is a necessity really as there wouldn't be much to do at home. We wouldn't able to cook or make drinks and there won't be any internet either...not sure what they're doing. They hand delivered a notice to all 6 houses up our lane last week saying the electricity would be cut from 8:30 to 4:30 today...something about updating the system...or something :noidea:, hubs understands it all..

We didn't fancy a longer bus trip so Southampton will do, we'll have a nice lunch out too..

Enjoy your day in the garden .....in the shade.Keep hydrated too.:blue thumb: xx

Morning Upsy, Michael, Flumpy and all who visit.

No rain yesterday, forecast showers today but I doubt seriously we will have any. Overcast now and 20c.

Hope you have a good outing Upsy and that it will be cooler by the coast. Sorry to hear your Sister and family have Covid ... I read it was on the rise again there.

Our internet speed is near zero and J has contacted MEO.

J's ENT went well yesterday, all good, goes back next Summer. He has his first of 12 Physios this morning in Alvor. He had a choice of M/W/F or T/T so went for the latter. Be interesting to see what goes on. He has his injections to take with him for her to administer.

Must shake my trail feathers as J will be leaving soon.

                  Morning Vicky,

This new variant is in a few countries now ....including Portugal.
My niece is a front line worker and she and her family..like the rest of our family, are fully vaccinated too. A tad worrying. Hubs and I still wear masks in crowded places and use thin gloves to hold on to handrails ( I have to when going up and down stairs as I can become dizzy) and for summoning lifts or bus bells.
Glad all went well for J.
Must dash ,no Internet or electricity so using my phone now.

                  Enjoy your day.:) xx

                    Morning
Another warm day ahead, too hot for me... give me 21-22C any day. I've had a thumping headache for the past couple of days lurking in my head which comes and goes throughout the day.

Had a nice day yesterday just strolling here ,there and everywhere. It was so peaceful now that all the children are back at school. There were quite a few foreign young people around , probably new University students who were getting to know the city before ' freshers day' and the start of the Uni academic year..normally around the end of September .

I didn't find any wool that I fancied adding to my stash, mind you I didn't really look too hard as it was very warm in the shops.....having said that I did come across a lovely pair of loose fitting and lightweight white trousers that I just had to have!! :heehee:

                    It's too hot to do anything comfortably...such a waste of a day.
We were planning on going back to Lymington today to walk the salt marshes...just don't fancy the trip out there in this heat.:phew:

A day of mooching around ....definitely some watering needs to be done. I will phone a couple of friends for a catchup chat and to arrange meet ups.

I will also see how my niece and family are doing too.

That's it really nothing very exciting today.

                    Have a good one!!!

                      Morning all.

Sorry you are suffering headaches Upsy and I am sure the extreme hot weather is responsible. I do empathise with you because it was horrendous here and not normal for us, nor what we moved here for. Fortunately our buildings/vehicles are able to cope with it ... but not always our bodies!!! And we don't have the rain we used to!:frown:

A free day here, I think, for J and he is suffering from his Physio yesterday.

I will probably repot a couple of plants I did yesterday as 'they don't look right'! I am suffering from lack of life as I can't do things I would like to do.

We finished I'll Fly Away and watched the movie 30 years on which tied things up. Started Cracker, Boston Legal and Flashpoint again.

                      Have a good day.

I'm sorry you're getting headaches @Upsydaisy, do you think the heat is causing them ? It's a bit too hot for me, and it's very humid too.

The decorating man is continuing with painting my kitchen - since it also consists of an extension and is newly plastered it has to get two coats.
There's a utility room to paint also so it's going to take another two days I think.

Almost everything from the kitchen is in the living room so I can't find things :noidea:

My hips and knees have decided to be painful :nonofinger: so what with the heat as well I'm finding difficulty being in the garden. So I've decided to start designing some Christmas cards. I have a few ideas so we'll see how they work out.

I'm runnung out of Bella's favourite (expensive) food so after the decorating man has finished for the day I'll have to make a trip to Pets at Home (about 6 miles away) to get more. At least she eats it all so there's no waste.

Have a nice day everyone  xx

Good morning.....well not to sure about the ' Good' bit as it's too bloomin hot!! I get grumpy when overheated!!
Thankfully my head is behaving and has sent the ache packing.:)

Vicky hope your enjoying all your movie sessions..do you make Popcorn??

How are you today Michael ,I hope those hips and knees have started to behave kindly for you.
I also hope Bella appreciated you going out to get her favourite dinner in this heat. Lucky pusscat.
I bet you can't wait for the decorating to be done and dusted.

Lori, Flumpy and ( just in case you're looking in) redstar.....hope all is good with you all too.:blue thumb::blue thumb::blue thumb:

Well most of my plans went accordingly yesterday....apart from one friend being currently in southern Spain for the whole of September and then is in Dubai for a couple of weeks so won't be home until mid Oct.

My niece and her hubs are still feeling a bit rough with Covid but great nephew has bounced back from feeling a bit ' off' on Sunday. The situation was conveyed to the school but they just said to send him in for classes as normal.:blue thumb:

Spoke to another friend yesterday and she has a friend ..in Dorset, with Covid too.

Hubs has an appointment for his regular blood tests this morning but hopefully he'll take the car rather than walk in this heat.

I'm off to the cinema with a couple of friends later to see...wait for it.......BARBIE!!! :thud: So looking forward to having a good laugh with my friends, we waited purposely until the schools went back.

So that's my day all planned out.

                          Have a fab day.

                              Good morning @Upsydaisy ...
I'm pleased to know your headache has gone.
My knees are still misbehaving but hip is not so burny (that's a word I just made up :heehee:)
I didn't get Bella's food, the painter didn't finish until 6.15 because he had a bit of plastering to do as well. The shop is 6 miles away and closes at 7 pm so there wasn't enough time. Bella managed with the 'cheap' food, which isn't that cheap really. It's the Purina Gourmet range which she will eat at times, for a change.

Decorating man is finishing today and then I can get my rooms back to normal

Enjoy the film, there's nothing like a good laugh ! xx

I don't believe in uniforms. They depersonalize you. I think people should wear what they want.
                                Depersonalize - I think I made that up...
