What's your weather doing today, it's looking as if we're in for a grim day here.
Enjoy your lunch..wish we could join you, we haven't be out anywhere really this week. I had half thought of going somewhere ...anywhere local today but the winds are picking up a tad now and more rain is due.

I don't mind really cold, frosty but sunny Winter days but these dark damp ones that are accompanied with a sudden drop in temperatures is just too much of a shock to my system.

Oh well , can't change the seasons can we.

It's pouring down here @Upsydaisy and has done so all night. There have been strong gusts of wind too. I think it will ease off during the day. I must go out anyway, I need Bella's expensive food from Pets at home ... oh and mustn't forget some things I need myself too

I would love for you to join me for lunch, it's nice to have company. I get a few pleasant smiles from the waitresses in the places I go though, they're getting used to me calling there now. Service with a smile

Can't stand frost, that's what gets in to my joints. Damp weather doesn't affect me.

It is 39f (4c) and some clouds are lingering across the sky. The guessers say that this will be the last pleasant day until next Thursday No matter, I have some halloween chocolates to comfort me.

Mid term reports are coming in for Emily and so far they don't have anything to be alarmed about. The language of these is a bit depressing. Lots of bafflegab and little content!

@Upsydaisy I have one last plant that I wish to collect seeds from however the pods seem to never ripen. These are those stunning orange nasturtiums. Why the heck do they not mature?

This is the first time I've read this thread! Somehow the title I think is what hasn't attracted my attention! So I've spent half an hour reading some of the posts. I hadn't realised there were so many posts on here!

Friday 13th is supposed to be a bad luck day, at least for the USA and UK. But I lived a great many years in Spain and there it's any old Friday! Their bad luck day is a Tuesday 13th! My wife, who is Spanish, laughs at it as I do our "bad luck" day!

 

I decided not to go with the boys for a few reasons ...
1) I am not really comfortable going out just having become Negative.
2) It is totally overcast, just 21c with 84% humidity!
3) The guys haven't seen each other for weeks so will have much to talk about.

We are both Negative again. The Pharmacist said we can make appointments for the Booster in three months.

 

Hello @Balc and to our morning thread. I started this thread about 15/16 years ago so you can blame me for the title! As you can see, we chat about anything and everything!

I have never heard on any superstitions here either.

I think if they are almost ripe and you have a risk of frost then I would harvest some to hopefully be on the safe side

Had crossed my mind wondering who started this thread, so your the one, @Victoria , good for you.
Its sort of a thread that is like one of those Pen Pal letters. I had a Pen Pal, she was from England when I was about 10 years old, don't recall what happened but we stopped writing, and guess back then I did not think to save a letter to find her later. Oh, well.

Was in the garden 1/2 of the day yesterday, cutting grass pulling some weeds, trying to tidy up. Have a person coming by today for some Hardy Geraniums.

I have some Nasturtiums in a pot, have not seen any seed formation yet. I do like using the leaves in my salads. @Upsydaisy .

Husband just handed me his work jeans, he wants me to fix a hole in them. So off I go to get my needle and thread. Have a good day all.

What is everyone up too this weekend?

I'm getting cabin fever I think as we haven't ventured out anyway this week...well apart from attending a medical app, grocery shopping and visiting my sister.

I'm trying to persuade hubs to go on a trip out to Salisbury today but he's not exactly brimming with enthusiasm due to the forecast....and Winter isn't even here yet!!!

I'll have to have a major sulk and see if that has a positive effect on him making the correct decision.

Hurray, we had showers in the night, only 3mm but we are not complaining. The sun is out now and it is 18c going to 26c with a possible shower later.

Oh dear Upsy, cabin fever already, tut, tut ... me thinks you need to go for a nice walk, even if it is down the lane.

As it is a weekend, nothing going on here with us homebodies. A couple of movies will be in order. Upsy we watched the series Sherwood this past week and now have the last episode of The Tourist to go.

@Balc I do a lot of container growing as I have a small back yard. Well, small compared to most here. At the moment all I've got left out there is a large oval basket shaped container with geraniums and then in the greenhouse, the super hot chillies in their last days of ripening their fruit for me to harvest. When I empty a container, I fill it up right after and stow in the greenhouse or the cellar. I usually bake the used soil then mix it half and half with new so that the pot is ready for next year.

@Upsydaisy I hope the weather improves for your outing. @Victoria thank you for the pic of the falls here in my province. This is me at 25 back when we were allowed to actually pose in the exhibits - a "barrel" that dare devils used to try to survive going over the falls!


I've got a new recipe for maple fudge and have got lots of maple syrup to make it. I will though need to go and get some heavy cream to make it. And I have Izzy here. Yesterday Em wanted her sister to come for a sleepover so they are having a nice lie in and I'll make them some waffles with, yes again, maple syrup. And I'll get some dough on the go for some fresh buns and bread.

It shall be a pleasant day.
