A day of nervously waiting for the storm to hit us tonight. Today we are focussing on damage limitation and double checking on things that have the potential of taking flight........duck everyone flying patio table coming in to land!!!!

As it stands at the moment our wind speeds seemed to have dropped a bit but there's no guarantee that they won't pick up again.

Morning all. I slept well again and forgot to come on here!!!

Nice start to the day here and should be all day.

It is a Holiday here today but we have nothing planned but I will have a check on my Nursery and catch a bit of sun ... after I cycle.

It is 28f with a fairly strong wind. The guessers say the sun will shine today so I will get out and rake some leaves then suck them up through a mulcher and spread the mulch in the gardens for their winter blanket.

I did not like having to put the bird bath away the other day but the surface water was freezing and that would kill the pump. It really underlines the fact that garden days are over. I will find a small plastic tub for drinking water for my feathered friends. Perhaps an old sour cream container. I have the bird feeder pole is now rammed into the pipe that holds my umbrella dryer during the summer so that is ready for me to fill the feeder and mount on it.

I've sent out the emails to my girlfriends to announce this month's get together. A pot luck lunch and crafting afternoon at my place on the last Thursday. Each of the 9 ladies is supposed to arrange at least one event per year so as to spread out the burden of hosting but somehow this will be my 5th time this year

I have my Hilda get up on the go here and lots of little things to attend to while my hair dries.

Good morning.

Very wet and blustery all night long but surprisingly still now out there at the moment. We are having a slight lull maybe.
We were advised not to go out unless we had to today, unfortunately we have to go out as I have a hospital appointment this morning. We decided to take the car rather than use public transport due to the weather.

We haven't decided yet as to whether to go into the city for lunch, we'll keep an eye on the weather situation and decide nearer the time.

Good morning everyone.


Well so much for the storm yesterday, it turned out no different from a normal stormy , damp Autumn day here on the coast.

We were out all day from 9:20am until 5:15pm and it was damp but Ok.

After my appointment we drove into the city centre to grab some lunch ,which we ate at a leisurely pace then drove out to a garden centre....couldn't see anything of real interest to buy so drove over to see my sister and great nephew , who was enjoying an unexpected school closure day due to 'The Storm '... I think all the schools were closed in Hampshire and the IoW.

We're off to visit my brother this morning.....and his budgie.
This afternoon I hope to rake all the fallen leaves up and pull up the last of the annuals that are now extremely battered and sorry looking.

Been awake sine 5am .. I don't like this time change! I feel like it is going to be a long day for me.

I am hoping J will go and get compost today before his lunch with John because he will sleep when he gets home and there goes the day!

I've been going to bed later than normal..around 1 - 1:15 am since Sunday and have gradually decreased it by 10- 15 minutes to get back to around 12:30am, our alarm is set for 6am so I think I'm back on track now. Hubs did the same too but at earlier times as he goes up around 2 hours earlier than me.

Oops oh yes I forgot we did buy 3 large bags of compost yesterday...I still had 2 here but I will use them for overwintering the tender plants with. So I'm all ready and prepared for seed sowing time in Feb/ March.

We still have the sun here..for now. Must dash as the bus leaves in 40 mins.

At The Deer Head Jazz Club last night. The oldest Jazz Club in USA. listening to some awesome stuff.

 

Ooooh I love jazz music ,so relaxing. Sounds like a fab evening was had.
