Sending healing vibes that both you and Em feel better soooon.
Oh, goodness, I would hate such a large school. My Secondary School in England had about a couple of hundred students and the college in Alabama had about 100!

@CanadianLori , you would not believe the "thickness" of leaves in our flower beds here just from normal falling. If I added anymore it would be up to 2 foot then the shorter snow drops in the spring would not have any appearance. Last year I managed to drag mounds of leaves into the woods, if a picture would do it justice, looking at the mounds today they are still in mounds, broken down, if I were to walk into a mound back there it would be up to my buttocks. Moving some in the woods this year will be to another area. Some time in late February I rake out the beds. And if you were to look at my front property now, you'd never guess that there were two clearances done already, as more has fallen. Its nuts. And we did take out 6 trees many years ago.

Sorry to say redstar but I would seriously have to move !!
We are surrounded by trees ,our area is named after the woods. Obviously the trees are mostly surrounding the outside of our boundary lines but even so I just hate seeing so many leaves wet and decaying everywhere. Our lane rarely gets official clearance from our Council and we get flooding in wet weather too, we do try and keep our patch of the lane clear. But as we age we find now that just keeping our garden clear is enough, and now have to shut our eyes to the mess outside of our land. No matter what size garden we had I would just have to keep on top of the messy mush of rotting leaves..if it became impossible or too time consuming then a smaller more manageable plot would have to be bought.
I am out daily at the moment sweeping our garden paths and patios and taking up excess leaves from the lawns and borders, and we still have tons more to come down. I know most people seem to love seeing fallen leaves but to me they look like a messy carpet that needs a good vacuum! :heehee:

Gosh Vicky you're school was a small one!!

Our local Secondary School ( the one our boy's attended) which is of medium size has just over one and a half thousand pupils on register...I've just gone on line to look it up. The little primary school they went to when they were 4yrs old had and still does have 250+ little ones.

Just looked the school up. I was there from 1959-1963. It is now a High School and Science college, has moved into a new bigger building nearby and has 910 students. The private College has now moved and become a 'higher' college and the building I knew is now just an office with 12 parking spaces for rent!

@Upsydaisy , yep. for the 3rd time I have sweep the back deck off. We have no "council" to get anything here. Would be nice if they would just offer to suck up any leaves I would blow to the street edge, that would take care of the front part.

Just walked back from the mail box, which is in the front, 100 paces from my front door. Just looking at the front area covered again with leaves, twice I cleared it so far. Its going to have to wait now till we get back.
We have been here going on 37 years, we kind of love it here even with all the leaf craziness. One year I am going to seriously find some one and spend some money to deal with it. I need one of those big trucks with the big vaccum hose on it, and a few good men to rake / or blow the leaves to the opening. But for now, I keep on. Like I said earlier, I usually tell myself only so many hours to be at it. Today, raining, so easy inside stuff. Later.

Oh no redstar I didn't mean that our Council will do any clearance on private property, I just meant they use to clean the lane verges at least once a year but seemingly not anymore. Our lane is very quiet with no- through traffic access, with just the farm at the far end and 5 other houses dotted along the remaining length of it, so it's not a priority I suppose.

They certainly wouldn't clean up leaves that homeowners purposely blew onto the public pavements/ roads.....they would more than likely fine you a sum of money!!!

                Happy Saturday everyone !

We're in for a gorgeous day today,I'm so looking forward to spending not only a dry day but a sunny one as well out in the garden again...can't wait to get out there but I think it'll be a nippy start...might need an extra layer.
                :hapfeet::gardening:

It suddenly dawned on me yesterday evening that Christmas is only 6 weeks away !!:yikes: I have to book some train tickets !! We have a couple of London trips planned and the time has just crept up on me, I don't want to be left with very limited time choices so that's another job to do today.

Lori I hope you're both feeling a bit better today, I know you usually do all your baking and vacuuming at weekends but pace yourself and take it easy inbetween sessions.

Try and have a relaxing day everybody.

Morning all. Well, I know you won't Upsy but enjoy your sunny day. We are overcast as yesterday and will be again tomorrow. No rain forecast, warm and dull, 14c this morning 22c this afternoon.

We always have weekends as our quiet time together with a movie in the afternoon. Oh Upsy, meant to tell you mid week evenings we have been watching Episodes with Matt LaBlanc but finished it and now watching Fisk, an Australian comedy about a lawyer.

Yesterday after looking for my old schools, I went further and searched my Father (no, I am not interested in genealogy) but was a bit surprised to discover I am deceased!!! I will do some more digging (no, not from the grave) this afternoon.

Not enjoy my sunny day??( albeit a bit nippy round the nether regions)...oh I will, I will. Just stocking up with hot drinks before venturing out there in a minute.:)

How come you're a dearly departed :yikes:, that must've been a bit of a shocker!!! I'll be intrigued to hear what your digging unearths on this grave matter. No puns intended ( much :roflol:).

I will look up Episodes as I've never heard of it , thanks. :)

Have a lovely day both of you.xx

No, I meant being lazy ... Upsy and lazy don't meld.

Okay, started my investigations. I have joined Family Search and trying to find out who put this info up in 2017 and correct my status to 'Living'. :heehee:

Morning all, Saturday. A wet day indeed today. No outside work at all. Soggy leaves. 40degrees.
@Upsydaisy --there are some towns that will provide trucks with large vaccuming systems that come along on the streets that will suck up leaves if moved to the edge of the front property by the street.
We will be meeting up with some friends later today at some "type" of car show an hour from here, (not taking the car), and then dinner out. About an hour drive there. We see them often at various car shows. Will be nice to see them again.
Got my pedicure yesterday, all pretty toes. LOL.
Continue to house stuff and packing for Tuesday's exit.
