Morning all, how are you all today?

Looking forward to a bit of respite from the rain today.....well until the next wet weather warning is slapped on us this evening that is.

I'm attempting to get a bit more brutal today by pulling up anything that is well and truly past it's prime. I really don't want to wish for bad weather but it would be good if we could just have just ONE short, sharp spell of frost that would naturally send a signal out to some of the remaining plants to shut down.
So far though there's none on the horizon.

Having just booked our train tickets for the first of our two trips up to London, it's now been announced that there will be strike actions taken by the railway workers that very same weekend !!.

Oh the trials and tribulations of life!!

Having said that I know we have a very blessed life compared to many, many others around the world.

Our internet is still having issues along with our landline which keeps randomly ringing out a couple of times night and day and all that can be heard is a lot of crackling and high pitch noises, already this morning it's happened 9 times and it's not yet even 7:30am!!!

    Have a fab day.
    :spinning:

Morning all. Slept like a log again, could hardly keep my eyes open last night.

Lovely sunny start and warm day ahead ... but we will get cooler next week.

J meeting john for their weekly lunch meet but that's all for the weekend.

          Good day
It is a heat wave - 52f 10c and the skies are covered in clouds. The guessers say the clouds won't be joking about their use later.

@Upsydaisy I dislike that time in between "looking lovely" and "totally dead". I think of it as "forlorn" plants. After having lots of nights below freezing, I've been able to pull all of the annuals without feeling I jumped the gun. The only thing left out there is the brussels sprouts. I don't think they'll finish in time this year but oh well, they are still green.

@Victoria does Van get jealous seeing you perusing pictures of other cats online? :heehee:

The rain is not supposed to start until late this morning so as soon as it is light, I plan to get some grilling on the barbecue done. I've got more chicken for caesars to do and will do up some burger patties for Em to snack on.

So I best get going here.

          Cheers :coffee:

Hi there Lori, I agree and I like the term forlorn plants..describes them perfectly.

Not a good look and doesn't exactly do much to banish the forthcoming Winter blues.:heehee:

Cut back a load more this afternoon, gradually getting there, slowly but surely.

Good morning everyone......yes I know I don't have a dog but there has always been at least one in our wider family, my parents always had one..sometimes two at the same time. I would love to have had one but unfortunately they can restrict you from being impulsive and just deciding on the day to take off somewhere. I use to do the dog walks for my Dad's last dog ...and loved doing so.:doggieshmooze:

Wet day today so continuing with the knitting of Santa and Rudolf treats....for my great nephews. I've finished one set and I will put them on a Christmas themed plate to give to the boys.

Not feeling very optimistic about being able to get out into the garden today.....a slim chance of maybe being able to mid afternoon ,only problem is that it's getting increasingly dark around 4/4:30 now.

Surprisingly no sign of any ducks or fish swimming down our lane .....yet.

Come rain or shine have a great day everyone.:)

Good Morning7.jpeg one and all. I haven't looked for new themes as the internet goes up and down, mainly down!

A lovely sunny start with 13c but going to 23c. We are still dreaming of rain.

A normal weekend for us, calm and quiet with a movie or two for J to sort out. I am going to look for a tabletop greenhouse/propagator and do a bit f crochet.

                  Morning Vicky.:)

The only really positive to rain at this time of year is that it makes it easier to tidy up the borders ,otherwise our clay is like concrete... but as with all positives there are the negatives.....the soil sticks like glue!! :roflol: Ah well we can't have it all our own way can we.

I occasionally do batch theme searching...think I'm fairly good until Christmas now.:dbgrtmb: I also make albums up under certain themes that I think will make good topics to use at a later date. When I come across anything that's relevant I download it into the appropriate album....then wait to get 14 in each.

Yes a knitting morning is on the cards here too today, it's supposed to cease raining by lunchtime. I now have a flutter of optimism stirring inside me to maybe be able to sneak in a short afternoon session out in the garden.:fingers crossed::)

                  Enjoy your movie date! ;):imphrt:

                    Good day
It is now up to freezing and the guessers say we might get up to 40f. Then tonight it will be 23f - that's minus something or other Celsius to you foreigners :heehee:

@Upsydaisy what is it that you are knitting? I just figured out a craft for after our pot luck lunch when my friends come at the end of the month. We're going to do mitten shaped handwarmers. I've also got a 1 minute craft for when they first arrive too.

@Victoria I'll make the popcorn. What are we watching?

I've got a load of laundry on the go, a couple more to finish for today. Then I need to drive Em to a mall about 40 miles from me so she can meet a friend from where she used to live and I will need to find something in the area to keep me amused for a few hours while they visit.

Oh, and I've got dough going for some fresh buns.

                    Cheers :coffee:

Well Ok...I don't have chickens either, but there are some over our far side hedge.:roflol:

                          Happy Sunday everyone.

Are you all enjoying a super relaxing weekend?

Vicky which movies won the vote for watching yesterday? Did you have any luck at finding the table top propagator that you wanted?

Lori was a brilliant Grandma you are .....very lucky family indeed.
What great crafting ideas for your get together with your friends.

Todays weather is set to be a vast improvement from yesterday and it's nice not to be stuck under a weather warning as well.

Had a nice video chat with two of our brood yesterday. Our eldest was out and about clothes shopping in Milan. Despite being a tad cooler there than here the sky was blue and the sun was out..

Middle one was just setting off to have a meal out with his fiancee. We are planning to either meet up with them in London over Christmas or visit them for a day at their home or tag a few extra days onto our Christmas break and stay with them for a couple of days after our stay with our eldest. We'll wait until he gets back from Italy and discuss all options together.:)

Didn't get to do anything yesterday in the garden as it was was too wet underfoot to go traipsing about , it would just cause more damage than good. Fingers crossed for today though.:fingers crossed:

I did manage to bag up another load of harvested seeds which are now stowed away in a big tin with the 1st batch. Just one final lot to do now and that will be it.:dbgrtmb:

                          Enjoy a stress free day.

Morning all, a nice day ahead of us.

                            Yesterday's movies were ...
Don't Breathe ... a horror film that makes you catch your breath!
Sex, Lies and Videotapes with James Spader and Andie McDowell ... I liked it.

You seemed to have a busy day yesterday Upsy.

Yes, re greenhouse/propagator, found this one in Spain for £20 including post ...

                              Good day
It is still pitch so I can't tell if we're in for sun or cloud or both and already up to 34f 1c .

That propagator looks pretty slick @Victoria and seems to have lots of accessories included in that price.

@Upsydaisy spending time in London at Christmas has to be fun. I can imagine it all dressed up in Christmas decorations.

I had an interesting time while Em was visiting her friend at the mall yesterday. Since it is some 49 miles away, I obviously did not drive home while she was there but hung about in the area. I visited a fabric shop that was overwhelming with it's displays of knits and spandex. I didn't buy anything as I had stupidly left my patterns listing at home and it has all of the yardage requirements on it. I'll probably go back when I'm starting to get ready to make more spring and summer gear. I do need to find a fabric that is good for a rain coat and also is able to be lined or has a warm lining woven in.

Today is just goofing around here. Finish whatever laundry I have, watch my show and basically just being a sloucher.

                              Cheers :coffee:

Good afternoon Vicky and Good morning Lori.

The propagator looks good Vicky very similar to mine except mine are smaller seed trays..3 fit into a bigger watering tray. I've 6 complete sets giving me 18 trays for my seedlings.

Oh yes Lori Christmas in London is fab sights ,sounds, food and mulled wine aromas are knockout !! It just gives you that buzz that lifts the spirits that can take a dive in Winter.

We are very fortunate here though as well.
Southampton pedestrian centre 's transformation has now been completed ( it was mid way through when we were there earlier in the week). We are planning on going later in the day/ early evening to soak up the full atmosphere.
